A Story From Russia

sermonindex Apr 8, 2012

During the early days of the communist takeover of Russia, party cadre would travel through the countryside. They woukd go into villages to expouse the wonders of the peoples revolution to the village peasants. Often times the party officials wold have armed guards to insure village compliance.

On one such occasion a party loyal came into a Russian village with an armed escort. The party official ordered the villagers to assemble in the village square. For the next three hours the official ranted about the glories of marxism. Then the party official looked at the village priest being somewhat the most literate man in the village. He said, 'Priest I give you five minutes to refute me'. The priest said, 'Sir I only need five seconds'. Then the priest shouted, 'My people The Lord Jesus Christ has risen'. The villagers shouted back, 'He has risen indeed'. It was said there shouts drowned out the machine guns that mowed the villagers down. For these villagers knew that true hope was found in Jesus Christ and not Karl Marx.

You can go into Moscow today and see the enbalmed body of Lenin. But in Jersuulem, there is an empty tomb. The cry of the believer is THE LORD HAS RISEN!!!!!!! How does your heart respond?

I have noticed that certain threads enjoy a short lifespan on this board. The more contro a topic is the longer it runs. Threads that deal with persecution of believers are often ignored and quickly disappear into cyber limbo. Such may be the case with this thread.

However I want to mention the message by Art Katz on The Invisible Cloud of Witnesses. Has anyone listened to this message? It is posted by Jesus_is_God on the Apostolic Foundation thread. I am not one for listening to sermons. However I felt constrained to listen to this one.

The message is convicting and penetrating. This brother had courage to preach this message to the church in France. The sad truth is this message would not be recieved in the church in America. Actually I do not think this message woukd be welcome at SI.

What is the message? Listen to it and find out. The link is on Apostolic Foundations. It is called The Invisible Cloud of Witnesses. Then you will see why persecution threads are short lived and more contro threads are glamorous.

Greetings

The story you shared from Russia was beautiful. Such love and devotion to our LORD and KING!! May GOD be glorified in all our lives. There are many around the world, in all countries where the LORD has his own who desperately love HIM and are willingly daily surrendering all that HE calls them to in order to obey and submit their lives to HIM.

As to your other post?I will set aside time to listen to the teaching you mentioned.I am in the middle of a book on hell at the moment.(one that was offered for free download by Francis Chan )

I don't have any answers for you as to why some threads seem to gather more attention and hang around longer then others. I have in my time here on SI noticed that some of the prayer threads, and the devotional threads drop off the front page pretty quickly but I do not think to much of it. I have come to the conclusion that GOD is in control and as such those whom HE intendeds to see these topics and threads do...He always has a way of directing us, we just have to be willing to be faithful and follow :)

God bless
maryjane
