Beta: First epub "esermon" published for testing on SermonIndex

sermonindex Apr 11, 2012

Saints,

As I mentioned earlier we are going to be slowly testing and releasing ebooks on SermonIndex in the epub format to start with. Epub format is useable and readable on the iPad, ibooks, any mobile phone with the right app, and also the Kobo device and many other eReader devices.

We are going to be offering "all" the ebooks 100% free as all the other content on SermonIndex.net Please download this epub file and add it to your device and application and let us know how your experience is.

Right now we will be releasing 2 different types of epub files: 1) eSermons - which will a single article or sermon message. 2) eBooks - which will be a full book with all the chapters.

The below example is a "eSermon" collection file:

This is a great idea and especially useful for those with tablet and handheld devices. It would be great to be able to have all the articles available in this format too as reading the PDF versions on smaller screens often requires a lot of panning due to the small font. As for the current rendering of the ePub on the iPhone, I think the message title is too large in relation to the text. I think, at most, it should be 50% larger than the message rather than the current proportion.

Blessings on you brother.

What applications work with these files?

What applications work with these files?

Dear Brother, the files will work on the following devices on this page below, which is virtually all of them. For instance to get it on the iPhone, iPad etc you just simply drag the .epub file to iTunes and that will make it available to read in the ibooks app.

You can download the kobo app freely here: http://www.kobobooks.com/smartphones

And there are many other apps for each device that reads epubs! hope that helps.

it should be 50% larger than the message rather than the current proportion.

Thanks for your feedback and we will consider changing the title size. We welcome any other feedback and thoughts on this as people try them on different devices.

The Calibre app is a great tool for converting between pdf, epub and the Kindle mobi formats. I use the Apple version quite a bit.

Great suggestion Ron. I would love more feedback on how the beta first eSermon shows on your difference devices. Looking forward to more feedback.

Greg,

Are you considering making the same sermons available for Kindle?

Brother, at this point we are just doing epub files but will look into doing the kindle format afterwards.
