When I Hear the Praises Start (A Song by Keith Green)

Sometimes I sing in the car and this song has repeatedly come up in my spirit as of late. In fact, I'm listening it to now. What a beautiful song...My son, My son, why are you strivingYou can't add one thing to what's been done for youI did it all while I was dyingRest in your faith, my peace will come to youFor when I hear the praises startI want to rain upon youBlessings that will fill your heartI see no stain upon youBecause you are My child and know meTo Me you're only holyNothing that you've done remainsOnly what you do for MeMy child, My child, why are you weepingYou will not have to wait foreverThat day and that hour is in My keepingThe day I'll bring you into HeavenFor when I hear the praises startMy child, I want to rain upon youBlessing that will fill your heart I see no stain upon youBecause you are My child and you know meTo me you're only holyNothing that you've done remainsOnly what you do in MeMy precious bride, the day is nearingWhen I'll take you in My arms and hold youI know there are so many things that you've been hearingBut you just hold on to what I have told youFor when I hear the praises startMy bride, I want to rain upon youBlessings that will fill your heartI see no stain upon youBecause you are My child, and you know MeTo me you're only holyNothing that you've done will remainOnly what you do for me

yes it is indeed, i've got also a cd of Keith Green, and it is great to listen to it, and has it influence on its listeners. And i want to share a short story, about the song "There is A Redeemer"One day, i was driving my cab, and a lady was sitting in the back, and the song "There Is A Redeemer" (which touches me) was playing...and as i was driving, i was looking in my rearview mirror, and this lady was smiling and was singing with the song, it was for her a real blessing, and a blessing for me to hear her singing that song. We could talk only a few moments about Jesus, because we had already arrived. But it was really great to see this woman, a sister in Christ (which i didn't know when i've picked her up) encouraged through this song. There is a Redeemer,Jesus, God’s Own Son,Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,Holy One,Jesus my Redeemer,Name above all names,Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,Oh, for sinners slain.Thank you oh my Father,For giving us Your Son,And leaving Your Spirit,’til the work on earth is done. When I stand in glory,I will see His Face,And there I’ll serve my King forever,In that holy place.Thank you oh my Father,For giving us Your Son,And leaving Your Spirit,’til the work on earth is done. There is a Redeemer,Jesus, God’s Own Son,Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,Holy One,Thank you oh my Father,For giving us Your Son,And leaving Your Spirit,’til the work on earth is done. And leaving Your Spirit,’till the work on earth is done.

I remember going through a very rough time in my faith once when God used this song. I was driving home from church and was very restless. I told God that I just didn't know what to do to make and keep my life right with Him. In frustration I turned my radio on and I heard a piano intro that could only be Keith Green and listened to the first words, "My son My son why are you striving, You can't add one thing to what's been done for you. I did it all while I was dying, rest in your faith My peace will come to you."It was the first time I had ever heard that song and it was a message straight from heaven.

Thanks for sharing the great songs. Yes, I do love Keith Green. Does anyone have the words to a a song that includes the following:Make my life a prayer too You, I want to do what You want me too>.. by Keith GreenIf you could share them, I'd be so blessed. I read them in his book, but he did not share the whole song. To me, Keith is like Tozer and Ravenhill, gone yet still alive, in heaven and on earth. God is sooooo good. Thanks again for sharing.

And i want to share a short story, about the song "There is A Redeemer"We have translated in Macedonian 2-3 songs (as I know) by Keith Green and one of them is "There is A Redeemer".Maybe the most loved song in my church is "Create in me a clean heart" inspired by Psalm 51. Everyone knows it :-) Also I like "The Lord Is My Shepherd".

I love his heart more than his musical ability. I saw a DVD of him about a week ago and he sang a couple of songs on CBN in 1981 or sometime before he died in 1982. They also showed a very brief clip from the funeral and there was Leonard Ravenhill. Anyhow, I'm on a tangent. Here's another song that means a lot to me.Oh lord, you’re beautiful,Your face is all I see,For when your eyes are on this child,Your grace abounds to me.Oh lord, you’re beautiful,Your face is all I see,For when your eyes are on this child,Your grace abounds to me.I want to take your word and shine it all around. But first help me to just, live it lord. And when I’m doing well, help me to never seek a crown. For my reward is giving glory to you.Oh lord, please light the fire,That once burned bright and clean.Replace the lamp of my first love,That burns with holy fear.I want to take your word and shine it all around. But first help me to just, live it lord. And when I’m doing well, help me to never seek a crown. For my reward is giving glory to you.Oh lord, you’re beautiful,Your face is all I see,For when your eyes are on this child,Your grace abounds to me.Oh lord, you’re beautiful,Your face is all I see,For when your eyes are on this child,Your grace abounds to me.

ROCK ON...!Love Keith's music and ministry. Imagine... he died 22 years ago. How much more would he have done in that time? He did more in his 28 years than most people do in a lifetime. But God knew what He was doing.Krispy

Brother Keith helped keep me alive in my earlier days with Jesus. I look forward to seeing him on that Day. I will hug his beautiful neck...after I've checked out the Master quite thoroughly of course. I think Keith left at just the right time. God knows exactly what He's doing, IMO.If you can read this: Love ya brother Keith!

hello!thank you for posting those keith green songs. how come all Christian artists do not have the same lyrical depth that he did? the Lord surely blessed him! i started reading the book 'no compromise' about his life and may i say it is well-worth reading...wow! not only his music, but his life really reflected Christ and gave Him the glory! something we all are trying to pursue :-) thanks again~in Christ, arielle

Yes Keith Green is great. If he hadn't of died, today he'd still be at an age where he could tour. I don't know why God allowed the plane to crash but you could see it was a part of God's plan that's why Keith and Melody had that eery conversation about what to call their son before he and his children boarded the plane. But maybe one reason why God alllowed him to die was so that Keith Green and his ministry did not have a chance to be corrupted by the CCM scene. Keith Green had a full life but a short life. When I read that Keith Green was considering to stop playing for some time maybe forever as he thought pride was creeping in himself, I cant think of the word but I thought that's a real devotion to Christ. You wouldnt see any Christian artists considering let alone doing that these days.
