Greetings,
THE DEPRAVITY OF SIN -- perhaps it may be one of the most forgotten truths of the church today. On Sunday I dealt with two questions on salvation for family and friends. IN both times, the words described them as, 'good' people. In my mind I was listening to them tell of the persons, and then thinking how best to answer. And for a brief moment of seconds, in my mind I was grappling with the issue at hand. And then. . .Praise His Name for 'and then', the Spirit spoke and reminded me of the truth of all souls, 'there is none good, no not one'. 'We have all sinned and come short of His glory.'
My answer to them, was at the heart of it all, 'What about the sin in their life?' Don't focus on their good works, good personality, good perception, helpful hand, generous gifts, focus on the soul and the issue of sin. Sin is what will condemn a soul to hell; sin is what sends people to hell, the sin of rejection of JEsus Christ as Lord and SAvior.
A few months ago, a woman on facebook wrote that, 'There are no bad people, just people with bad thoughts'. What?? A professed Christian saying this, deed honest I couldn't believe what I read, pastors preaching this. 'And then', came again. A Word from THE WORD, the devil has caused them to believe a lie, to trust in self, to live in humanism and to forget the understanding of true salvation. OH, how many are on their way to hell because of false lies.
Our prayer life is a life fighting against sin. Not in our own strength, not in our own words, or thoughts. So often we rush into the presence of the Lord with our burdens, our requests, our lists of needs. But how truly often do you ever, if ever ask, "Lord, what is Your burden? what is on Your heart?' And the Lord answers back - 'ETERNITY - ther sin is keeping them from Me and if continued in this life, will keep them from Me for all eternity.' The prayer of Christ, 'that they may know You'. the prayer of Christ, 'keep them in You.'
And our prayers in answer to this great dilema of our day is to pray for the lies to be revealed, the truth to be declared, the souls to be set free and God to be glorified in the midst of it. Why is it that every time revival unleashed on a people throughout history, the testimony is borne, 'And they all fell on their faces, with weeping, and tears, and confession'? Because when God comes into the midst, His Presence immediately answer the issue of 'Depravity of Sin'. You don't have to convince anyone, when God comes, that they are a sinner.
A prayer for revival is a prayer that when God comes, this true conviction is upon all the hosts. A desire to see the lost saved, to see our families truly born again, to see the church made holy, to see a nation turned unto Him is found in prevailing prayer. Prayer is offered. . . .'AND THEN'. . . Jesus came!
