I really don't think people even know what it means. To the average person, christian or not It is my opinion that it amounts to having extra services during the week. You know, those things that churches will advertise as a revival week? It is a traditional thing.
There are personal revivals and group revivals. I think group revivals are the ones in which people begin repenting of their sins weep over them and then this grows and grows. It isn't going to be a time in which people starting getting all of this healing stuff or people prophesying and such. Just genuine repentance that extends to their home and to their business. It will extend intend itself into society beyond that of a cutsy bumper sticker or shirt. This is what I look for and I don't know the last time something like this has happened.

Just how long are we suppose to weep over our sins before we can believe that the blood has cleansed us and taken all the guilt away being justified by the blood and through faith in Jesus Christ. How long does it take for one to get sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost.
Then how long does it need to take before we can lay hands on the sick and see them recover.
I also long to see real prophesy that edify's the church because that is what we should desire to build the body of Christ up in the Lord.

In days like ours there is often a tearing down that proceeeds the building up.

Or better yet, maybe it's not time for revival on a big scale. There are times of personal revival where one is stirred up by the Spirit of God and moves about for a season, we have all experienced this from time to time. But for a general revival where the power of God explodes on the scene in a great wave, there is a time and a season for such events. And when it does happen every believer that has been standing about the market place because no man has hired them will be put to work immediately. Every believer will want to flow with it, because their spirit bears witness with His Spirit and they will be pulled toward Him, hence, It's not by might nor by power, but it's by My Spirit sayeth the Lord that these things are done. And He will cause us to walk in His ways.

In Greenock, UK in 2008 we had a panel of dear brothers that were asked what we need to do for revival to happen. Some had some profound things to say and then one brother answered, "I'm just a foot soldier. I only know to do what I am told." That was his way of saying that we need to hold the Head (Jesus Christ) and allow the directives to come down from Him as we seek God in sincere prayer. He has 7 eyes and 7 horns (Revelation 5;6) The trouble is that so few people today believe that Jesus Christ, the Head of the Body, is anything more than a spectator of what is going on in the churches of God. They don't expect Him to be giving direction to His members in particular.
In Revelation 2, 3 we have 7X, 'He that has an ear let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.' This is more than 'direction'; it is God sending revelation that contains within itself the enabling (grace) to accomplish the task.
In the OT the Ark was on a cart coming back into the city when Uzzah reached up to steady it and was struck dead. The Ark represents God Divine authority; His throne from which He reigns. Issues going on within the churches of God are known to God and He has the solution(s). It is His prerogative. Our job, I suggest, is to be the good foot soldiers that are attentive to hearing what God is saying to us with a readiness to respond to Him in faith. I think to take matters into our own hands is to reach up to steady the Ark. Just some thoughts on it.

You know, When I have sinned, I give it over to the Lord and the matter is settled. Why is there this need to pine over our sins? Are we Catholic now?
Do we cry just enough to get God's attention so that we can now earn His precious blood to which He freely gave?
Oh don't get me wrong beloved, I've pined over my sin but the problem was I kept going back to it. That was the reason I kept whining. I had to make a decision, stand against it or keep pining.
Now if someone were to say, "When do we stop crying over other peoples sin?" I would reply, you don't. When the Spirit of God moves upon us to weep between the porch and the altar for some soul that is caught in Satan's trap, that will never stop, and thank God that it doesn't, I wouldn't give that up for the world, there is great satisfaction in praying through especially when your standing in proxy.

Sounds like doubt doesn't it? The reason why is because it's the same words given by the children of Israel, "Where are the leeks and the garlic?" "We were promised a land flowing with milk and honey, where is it?"
I sympathize with you. I have left the power to which God desires to use us to Him. Funny how these things work. In the Old Testament the examples that are given of those that have moved in the power of God moved according to what He desired to do with them. Christ moved by the Spirit of God that was in Him doing His will not His own. When the fullness of the time came, Mary was impregnated by the Spirit of God and brought forth a Son.
When the fullness of the time came, that is what we are waiting for my precious brother, we are waiting for the fullness of the time that will come when we shall give birth to a mighty revival.
What we are need of right now is some patience. And we know that in order to have patience we will need affliction.
First time i have posted to a thread but have been a long time lurker...
Someone asked if we should be weeping over our sins? I don't believe we should weep as in manufacturer and work up a "big ol cry session" but there are times when God does a deep work of the Spirit in us. These are the times He revives us.
These special times of personal and corporate revival are where the glory of the Lord manifests strongly in a nearness of the Holy Spirits presence (and no i am not talking about gold dust type of experiences). When this happens we can be overwhelmed with a profound sense of His holiness and we will begin to weep over our sin. I believe this is what happened to Isaiah when he "saw" the Lord and cried out in in anguish over the state of his heart/life in comparison to what he was experiencing.
I was once in a prayer meeting with some young men and as we shared as to our needs one of the lads said, "I just sense that the Lord wants us all to repent". Personally I did not "get" where he was going with this and kind of thought he was a little off to be honest. But we all agreed that he was to lead us in pray. He prayed a simple pray as we held hands in a circle. What happened next is hard to describe. One minute we were standing, mumbling in agreement and the next minute we we were all on our faces in the dust confessing our sin, anything and everything. I distinctly remember seeing how rotten i had been to my wife with a sarcastic comment i had made as i left the house earlier that evening.
So, I don't know if you would call that revival or not but in my experience we do not see this happen more often because we do not seek God as we ought in a spirit of prayer...and as Ravenhill would say, "this is why revival tarries".
