Spellings and Grammar

I have noticed recently in a lot of postings the grammar is terrible. I realize that some know how to type but your ability to form words may be limited, so you type them as they sound, that is totally understandable.

But there are those that type so fast that your missing words or other letters are being added before you hit submit, perhaps going over what you've typed to check for spelling wouldn't go amiss. If your using Firefox, you can get the add on Spell Check which underlines a word that is misspelled and by right clicking on the mouse will give you a list of words that are similar to what your trying to use and will help with the spelling. I am constantly going over my posts to make sure the spelling is accurate and sometimes I miss one or two then I'll see it and make the necessary corrections. Spell Check is a word life saver.

Perhaps the your vs you're correction could be considered as well. :-)

Haha. Man, I've come up with some funky stuff from my phone when I haven't given it a thrice over before I hit "Submit".

And I think mods want to remove the edit function. Should make for some funky post.

I also have been guilty at times in rushing a post and not ensuring the spelling was 100% correct or grammar. There is a built in spell checker with the new Mac OS X but I am not sure how well it preforms.

LOL, God love ya old Joe. I have my own mistakes too. I remember sometime ago someone pointed out to me the use of the words, "Then" and "Than", since pointing that out I've been extra careful to insert the correct letter, and thank you for pointing that out to me as well I do appreciate the correction.

I hope you're only bored and merely have nothing better to type about and that's why you started this thread, Approved.

I don't look for spelling nor grammar errors but I Do read what's in the heart of a poster and some of my favorite member's posts can have every word misspelled, with improper sentence structure ta-boot, and I still get tremendously blessed by every one of their words.

I hope this doesn't discourage one single soul from posting their 'heart' out here - Amen!

Ah JiG, your always a breath of fresh air, always looking for any opportunity to criticize one's intentions.

If you read my first post you'll see that I completely understood the person who might not be able to spell properly, or throw words together like a professional writer could. In fact, there is a brother on here that I particularly like to read though his writing skills are terrible, but I like his spirit and genuineness. As for having nothing to do but start these threads, I had this thread in mind months ago just never got around to doing it.

Can you please do something for me Sister, can you stop judging others until you've at least walked one mile in their shoes. For I know many people that can't talk right, can't spell, but they have a terrific faith, a wonderful aura about them that I most admire. I myself can't talk right, I type because the flow from my brain to my hands work better than if I were to speak.

The purpose of this thread was a simple asking, if at all possible to look at one's post before submitting, that is it, nothing more.

I remember a brother who lives in South London, England and I wished that I kept the email because it was not legible. I had to ask another brother from the same country to decipher it. It was English but bad English. It was worse than the quote below.

My problem is that my fingers seem to hit two buttons at once when I type quickly. The curse of big hands and small laptop keyboards.

As far as internet grammar goes, the only thing worse than appearing to be illiterate, is pretending that you aren't.

Write to be understood, and so it at least appears that you understand what you are writing. Don't write either below OR above your own head. Pretend your posts are teaching a grade 2 student how to write and spell, do not pretend that you have a Phd in English, or at least if you do, write with the understanding that most of us do not.
