The danger of love of money: Blind leading blind

Did someone encountered this teaching?

There is a teaching emerging in some churches today. May I express my view on this 'prosperity-healing' teaching. They teach that God will provide a job for you to earn money(I agree with that). The verse used is 2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that you through his poverty might be rich. For healing they teach having faith in God, wait and be healed. The verse they use is 1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. Notice that they don't condemn those who work hard to earn money but those who spent money to be healed. I will ask, IS MONEY MORE IMPORTANT THAN HEALTH? Jesus said that He want mercy more than sacrifice. This teaching approves working hard for money but undermines striving for health.

Food makes us healthy and medicine is designed for that too. When we eat we ask God to bless the food, so we can also do it with medicine. We use apparatus like barbell to exercise - to be healthy, so what's wrong with using an apparatus in operation? They said that the reason you're not healed is you don't have enough faith, same with money. This 'prosperity-healing preaching' teaching approve money given by the company either believer or unbeliever but condemns healing from a doctor/ medicine. Why is it? Can you see what the love of money can do? This teaching has made more people selfish than merciful. I do believe in miracles but if I don't have love, it's useless.

Yeah man. The prosperity "gospel" isn't a Gospel at all actually. It's an anti-Gospel.

1 Timothy 6:3-6 (Emphasis added in caps)

If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited and understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, WHO SUPPOSE THAT GODLINESS IS A MEANS OF GAIN.

But godliness actually is a means of great gain WHEN ACCOMPANIED BY CONTENTMENT.

The whole prosperity thing is Mammon worship disguised in Christian lingo. Teaching covetousness and faith in faith, not faith in Jesus.

hi,the snare is that you cannot do much to further the gospel without money.your missions outreach demands money. all ministry to the poor demands money. help to the widows and orphans demand money so we ask for money and receive it sometimes in abundance and we are trapped into not waiting on the Lord for money. we ask, then beg, some lie. it is an understandable trap that satan sets up. if we continue to get more and more money we sometimes get puffed up and believe we are more favored of God than the lesser churches or believers.satan now has us trapped.pray for those in this snare.my pastor was given a gift of a million dollar check and he gave it to r. bonnke to support a major week of revival in africa.all are not hooked thank God.jimp

You live in the Philippines jolliboy so I guess that what you are sharing reflects the fact that the teaching you have spoken about is now coming to your country or district. Resist it brother with every thread of your being. It is a most hateful and malevolent teaching to come to the mind of men. It is so persuasive that even godly men and women have believed it to their eventual downfall and humiliation. It has put the name of the Lord Jesus to an open shame in many lands. Those who started teaching it in the form which you have described did so to my own hearing 27 years ago. I hated it then and I hate it now. It is a root of much evil and no matter what anybody tells you to the contrary it leads to every kind of hypocrisy including denying the very Lord who died for us. Flee from it brother.
