Creation.... for man or other?

Certainly we can't presume to know the mind of God but........
I'm sure many of you hear the statement in one form or another, "Look around, see all the things God has created for us." So the question, was creation indeed for man, or might there be another purpose?
I'm curious of your thoughts.

Col ch 1 v 12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:

15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, ((and for him:))

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

This is just me speaking, not God, but i do have a thought. I imagine that if God is love, He could hardly contain it. In His outpouring of Love, through which He created the earth, He also created man, with the capacity to love back through the element of free will, for love would not truly be real if it were not for this aspect in our lives. He did indeed create the world for Himself, but i believe also for us, in the objective that we may see Him through it.

God is an artist and the picture He paints is a dynamic, living, breathing world that not only physically manifests His glory, but it has deep metaphorical messages built into it that ministers to us on a spiritual level. Every single piece of existence is there to reveal to us His glory, and to illustrate something to us. I believe that thing is love.

An interesting idea I have always thought about is this. Why can we perceive beauty in the world? What sense does music make to one with no soul? Did you know that some of the most colorful and vibrant creations of Jesus dwell in the depths of the ocean, where no one but He Himself can witness?

Just some random thoughts on the matter :)
