Don't Judge Me!

I find it interesting that this has been the go to statement of so many people that contradict the Word of God. I got into an interesting discussion with someone I know on facebook and I agreed with him to a point but then his theology got wonky. He said Christians aren't suppose to judge people we are only suppose to Love and accept. We were discussing the Chick-Fil-a thing, I told him I don't understand why people are so surprised a Christian organization makes Christian statement like they don't support gay marriage. My friends response was well I have read the bible and I don't have a photographic memory but could you show me where it says that its wrong two people of the same sex to love each other and marry each other?

I quoted from Timothy and 1 Corinthians verses that specifically say it's wrong he has yet to reply to these verses or try to refute them. My whole point in the converstaion turned when I came to this point, the entire conversation my friend talked about how ignorant it was to make such claims that Gay marriage is wrong according to the bible. But then I found out he was the one that was ignorant to what the Scriptures have to say.

I say all of this to say, Don't drop your sword brothers and sisters, the Word of God can't be ignored. They may put on a front like "Don't judge me" but deep down inside they know they only say this because they have no way out of the corner the Word of God places them in, to make a decision.

Battling over Biblical interpretation can be a no-win war. Even the meaning of judging is "unwinnable" if you extract one verse and use it as a proof text.

"Judge carefully",
"Do not judge",
"Judge between your servants",
"Stop passing judgment on one another",
"Judge for yourself",
"make a right judgment"…

The do-no-judge sword is often deployed as a fear response in the face of threat. That appears to be the case for you. You will never win over your "opponent" when he feels on the defense. In fact, the harder you work to win, the harder he has to work not to lose. And, that means reinforcing his position. In the end everybody feels exhausted, defeated and alienated. It is a tragic end for many relationships. It's the typical fear response: fight or/and flight.

And indeed, there has been a lack of love or mercy! On that point the participants often fail to "make a right judgment".

Working hard to take the speck out of each other's eye is well- proven to be an ineffective means of winning a war over Biblical passages. It is best to disengage and leave time for God to work in both of your hearts - to change what needs to be changed. Why not, instead, remove your armor and share your own struggles in your faith growth, what you are learning, etc. That can draw you together rather than apart.

PS: You may find it more edifying to do a word study on the use of word "judge" in scripture. Working on your own faith growth is far more effective than working on another's.

One time when a person was accusing me of being judgmental I asked her, "well, are you not now judging me?" To her credit she admitted she was.

It does not matter what you say, when you are sharing an absolute concept you are making a judgment. It matters not what it is, but an expression shared as something true can and will be viewed as being judgmental.

As an aside, a lady I talked to yesterday mentioned how people will talk after the decease of someone. People are quick to say 'they went to heaven.' But did they really? How do you know? Is this not judging? I have been at unease over this practice - very common in the south - when someone dies people are quick to say he/she went to heaven. This matter rests with the Father and not us - methinks one should back off and leave it there. The lesson one should learn is that likely someday we will be lying in a satin lined box and put six feet under.

This sensitivity to not offend is a symptom of this hedonistic generation. The last virtue of a wicked society is tolerance. A sinner will throw away all the Bible, but still quote, “Judge not that ye be not judged.”

The major issue I am finding in this whole thing is that homosexuals love each other and it is hateful to deny them the same status of heterosexuals. Many are liking it to blacks and slavery. It is all about love and tolerance.

There is also a segment saying it is genetic and ingrained in the physiology , which with some people I really wonder about. There are some people who seem wired for homosexuality. It seems to have taken over their whole body in speech and mannerisms.

Some people are using pure logic to defend this thing and I find that logic can deny the Presence of God which can ultimately deny Absolute truth. Logic says a body cannot come back from the dead. Once the body dies it is gone.

"Love and Accept" is a False Gospel and then once you are part of the "club" you can continue feasting on the false Gospel of OSAS which does not require you to walk a life of holiness and righteousness.

The fairy tales start early in evangelism and then continue in the Church.

As Christians we don't have exclusive rights to the sacrifice of Christ...and we don't own the Holy Spirit. Salvation and the Holy Spirit are not commodities that we get to keep NO MATTER WHAT.

Our past sins are washed away but we must deal with present and future sins as we are progressing to walk in the perfection of Christ. It is like you get a government bursary as long as you remain in school. But as soon as you think you can take it easy while still collecting the bursary...you are cut off.

1 John 3:9, wrote " whoever has been born of God does not sin...." Note that he didn't say "should not sin", or, "had better not sin". He said "does not sin". And the rest of the verse...."for His seed remains in him; AND HE CANNOT SIN, because he has been born of God".

John is speaking on one side or pole of the dialectic to warn gnostics that there is no such thing as a saving knowledge. We have to walk the walk. So what John means is that..unless you have walked in a perfect holiness at any time...you have never met Jesus Christ yet...so keep looking! It is like... Unless you have seen the Eiffel tower in person...you have not yet visited Paris.

The modern gospel of irresponsibility for sin is hugely popular and gaining more steam as we head for the end. The children of light are here to expose the darkness.

If He gives us grace to get saved, He will give us grace to walk the walk of holiness and righteousness.

Voddie Baucham has an excellent sermon about judging, especially this particular verse. He explores the idea that we are all making judgements, then going into detail about what constitutes right judgements ("You can judge a book by its cover") to bad judgements ("don't judge me") being the most popular. The title of it is 'Passing Judgement'.

What you did was the most 'loving and caring' thing that can be done. That person now knows what the word of God says and he's free to make a judgment to whether or not he chooses to agree with the Lord or reject him outright.

It amazes me that some 'Christians' would somehow twist preaching the gospel to people into an 'uncompassionate' 'judgmental' thing when Christ said 'Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Truth be told this is the meaning of 1 John 4:1:

"Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world."

This spirit which tries to tell a person that preaching Christ is somehow 'judgemental' or 'uncompassionate' (or leaves you feeling that way AT ALL) is demonic (anti-Christ), it's really that simple. NEVER feel that doing what the Lord calls us to do is the wrong thing regardless of your motive. Hopefully, our motives are good at all times but even if they aren't every time 'the gospel is preached' (Phillipians 1:18).

Th fact of the matter is religious, false christians hate the gospel, they are of the same spirit that crucified the Lord, don't EVER forget that. They hate the genuine Christian just like Cain hated Abel.

I agree 100% with what you have all said!

Also Grant that has always been my thinking aswell if God says Hey this is sin, then He has already called the shots on what is right or wrong with that particular thing.

And I have no problem telling people hey you can say that we'll see in the end when God judges us but I'm telling you now what His written Word says about it now and it ain't pretty.
