Does it seem incompatible that a God of love, who counts our tears, can send us suffering and crosses, which cost us tears? The Lord’s reply to that is, ‘Blessed are you that weep now, for you shall laugh.
The blessing is hidden in love for the cross. Do you lack this love for your cross? Then you cannot be happy. Love your cross as a gift from your heavenly Father — and love will make it bearable. The secret of the love of the Father and the love of Jesus will be revealed to you and make you happy even amid tears.
