My Obsetvation

sermonindex Aug 9, 2012

It is truly a sad day when men, such as Rush Limbaugh are honored as purveyors of the truth. But men such as Dietrich Bonhoffef who lived out the truth are excoriated. Truly one must wonder.

it looks like no one else shares in your observation. prob'lly because no one here has excoriated bonhoffef. i have seen where sum have examined what he believed and found it wanting in some areas, but that is not excoriating. and no one here put rush on a pedastal. they used his words as an example of 'even the blind can see what going on'. they will know we are christians by our love, by our love.

It was only an observation. Never really expected anyone to agree or disagree. Though I think many would honor Rush Limbaugh. He speaks for the evangelical culture. He typifies the desire of many evangelicals which is to preserve culture. The culture to be preserved would be White Anglo Saxon Protestantism. As I posted in another thread. Christ did not come to redeem cultures but to redeem souls.

Bonhoffer would typify the martyrs who stood for Christ and died for him. There are some will take issue with this. But then some dispute the faith of the Anabaptists who stood for Christ. And were martyred for that faith. To some, perhaps many, the martyrs will always be looked upon as heretics. Martyrs for Christ, but who deserved to die. Even Jesus was thought to be a heretic by his own people.

Paul Washer in a message said that one being martyred will not be noble. The true believer will be martyred as an enemy of the state. This was true in times past. Thus is true now in persecuted countries. This is going to be true when persecution comes to America.

So the Rush Limbaughs will be honored and the Bonhoffers will be martyred. Those who will martyr the remnant will be the 501c3 evangelicals who love the culture.

Just my thoughts.

Dear Bearmaster

Just wanted to let you know I understand your heart in all of this. I think many of us here understand your deep desire to see JESUS lifted up and glorified.

Bear you wrote:As I posted in another thread. Christ did not come to redeem cultures but to redeem souls.

I agree with you completely JESUS did not come to save cultures or even countries but rather people :) I think there are many here who will agree with this.

With all this is mind perhaps the best thing to do is just point others to JESUS. Each one of us need CHRIST, Rush Limbaugh, you, me, and everyone here has the same need of CHRIST... Lets not lift up any man but JESUS alone!! HE is worthy of all our praise, love, and devotion!

God bless you and thank you for sharing your heart.

thanks BM for making your point clearer. i just do not see where this bonhoffer guy was excoriated by any1 here. sum have problems with sum stuff he taught. there is nothing wrong with that. sum do not like his luv of the catholic church. disagreeing with sum1 is not the same as excoriating sum1. as populer as this guy seems to be wouldnt it be a good idea to check what he taught? but ur no diffrent than the people who call others haters or hateful because sum1 tells them they disagree with them over gay marriage or whatever the hot topic of the day is. u stop short of callin people who u disagree with haters but u strongly imply it in ur words.

Amen to what you say, sister. I have been posting that on What America Will Look Like in 2022 thread. But trgicalky MJ evangelicals are going to try to fight to save the WASP culture. It is a lost cause.

But Amen. God is redeeming a remnant to come out of America Babylon. They will embrace the cross.

I share in YOUR observation, Bearmaster!

And I still wonder. I have nothing against "Limbaugh", but (ahem...), he has no impact on my faith. Not like DB.

And he was "excoriated" as you say, but that is okay, God is on his side. And I'm on your side, Bearmaster!

I like your pseudonym, by the way.

And what an observation it is!

"Christ came to redeem souls, not cultures"...this is great! You should write a book with this title, Bearmaster! I'd read it and then turn it to a book study thread on SI .

David Wilkerson spoke to this problem near the end of his life and preaching that the church was not even listening barely to the "secular prophets" ie unconverted men who are speaking of the signs of the times. Yet we must hear not them but the true prophets of God.

Leonard Ravenhill's book that was just put back into print: American is Too Young to die speaks directly to this problem, our need is true prophets from God. http://www.davidravenhill.com/books
