Who do we spend our time with?

He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.Proverbs 13:20There's an old proverb that states A man is known by the company he keeps. Over the years, I could tell you a lot about a person by spending a few minutes with him or her in unguarded conversation. In the end I could tell you without a shadow of a doubt what was most important to that person. Why? Because that's all he or she talked about the whole time. Generally the same holds true concerning the people we spend most of our time with. We tend to be just like the people we worship. There's a lot to be said for having the right role models I can usually tell you what preacher most ministers idolize because they tend to fashion their own ministry after their idols. We tend to be just like the people we spend all of our time with. We tend to migrate toward people who have the qualities we value the most. In all honesty, what kind of people do you tend to migrate toward? What does that say about your life?

2 Corinthians 6:12 You are not restricted by us, but you are restricted by your own affections. 13 Now in return for the same (I speak as to children), you also be open. 2Cor. 6:14 Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said:\t“I will dwell in them\tAnd walk among them.\tI will be their God,\tAnd they shall be My people.”17 Therefore\t“Come out from among them\tAnd be separate, says the Lord.\tDo not touch what is unclean,\tAnd I will receive you.”18 \t“I will be a Father to you,\tAnd you shall be My sons and daughters,\tSays the LORD Almighty.”Many in the church look at this Scripture in a very superficial way. They speak of being married or being friends with those who are not christains. Yet few go to the depts that this Scripture speaks too.Is it not our affections that create our desire to be with one person or another. How do our affections effect our walk? Do we share the same desires as those who are dead in sin or alive in Christ?You can pretend all you want. The evidence of your walk will define where your affections lie. And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone;Genesis 2:18Don't fool yourself. Even God knows a relationship with Him isn't enough for human beings. They also need relationships with other human beings. My whole point in this is to be aware of who you're fellowshipping with in life. While we have to spend time among sinners every day, we don't have to fellowship with them, & we never want to fellowship with their sin.@ the same time we need fellowship with other believers who will encourage us to become all we can be for the kingdom of God in this present life. We need to seek out that kind of people & spend as much time as we can with them, both online & offline.
