Great question brother. I think there is wisdom in some measure keeping updated with current news according to the Scriptures. There are great ministries that provide this service so you can subscribe to their email lists or blogs. As any layperson looks at the situation in the world we know it is the endtimes. May we be found aware and walking in the Lord's wisdom in these days.
The number one sign Jesus gave to indicate the last days was spiritual deception against believers. We of course should be cognizant of things in the Middle East, and natural disasters, etc. etc., but the thing Christ warned about with the highest frequency was spiritual deception perpetrated against the elect.
With that in mind, the times are quite telling in deed.
When I relayed such events to a born again sister,her response was we as Christians do not need to keep track of current time event.I was telling her that we need not rely too much on the easy life and perhaps prepare ourselves for difficult times to come.Her response was "no we shouldnt concern ourselves about such because it makes us seem worried,we just need faith".
