Question on Quoting

How do you quote other posts like I see many of you doing? What is the simplest way to do so? How do you take single lines out of the entire post and quote only them? Thank you very much.-Eli

Hi Eli,At the beginning of the section that you want to quote you type (except without the spaces) [ quote ]. Then you type or copy and paste what you are quoting. Then you type (without the spaces again) [ / quote ]. And that's how you do it.

Hi dohzman,Try it this way;You have the right brackets but you need the word "quote" contained in it. Using your example and subsituting the [ ] with ( ) for an example (If I use the brackets you won't see them when this is posted):It would look like this before you submit it:(quote)Thank you very much .(/quote)Try this using the brackets [ ] instead of the( )You can do the same thing automatically with the QUOTE button at the top of the response box. Just click on it, type what you want or cut and paste into it and hit "OK". you will also see the "language" in the same format as mentioned above here.

Hi dohzman,I still remember having the same problems early on...Here's a bit more.The same "formula" applies for the rest of these things and is called "HTML" for: "Hyper Text Mangling Language" :-P It is what you see below the write in box.It follows the same pattern as the "quoating" earlier. And again with the same practice as the "quote" and changing the ( ) to [ ]~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~For Bold it would be; (b)Bold(/b)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~For Italics; (i)Italics(/i)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~For Underlined; (u)Underlined(/u)~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Now for doing two as an example, it is in the order, still the same 'language' only note the placement...For Both Bold and Italic; (b)(i)Both Bold and Italic(/i)(/b)It's an 'inside out' approach. Without the text:(b)(i) ........ (/i)(/b) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~And it doesn't matter which comes first, the result will be the same as long as it's;'2 in and 2 out'At least that's how I try and remember it.(i)(b) ........ (/b)(/i)Will produce the same thing as above.And it still trips me up when I am doing multiple things like that and thankfully the "Preview" button is there to look at it, which, when the writing is haywire will usually cause one of these two reactions: :-? :-x 8-) P.S. Always use lower case letters when writing the language between the brackets....
