Why Christians Should Vote in this Coming Election

Dear brothers and sisters,
I am posting this link below from an American minister friend who lives in Australia. He has a much different calling and ministry to mine, yet I respect and appreciate how the Lord is using him in the Body of Christ...thank God we are not all the same:)

My personal conviction is that if I do not vote then I have no right to complain about the state of the governance of the society that I live in as it relates to me and my family.

For example, we home school and we appreciate the wonderful liberty afforded to us here in Texas. But if Texas voted and passed laws making it illegal for our family to homeschool I would probably move to another state. At the very least then, I am praying for and supporting with my active voting participation, for men and woman of integrity who will uphold to the best of their ability Gods laws and higher purposes. That is just one small reason why I vote.

I am an immigrant from Australia, now living in the USA and I consider it a deep privilege to live in this land that still has exceptional religious and other freedoms. But I am concerned for the society that we are leaving for my children and for their children. Sure, I could take the spiritual high ground and claim that we are ultimately passing through and are citizens of another Kingdom, not of this world, but that is a purely selfish and impractical mindset. I live, eat and socialize with people of this world and so will my ancestors. As long as I do this I have a God given responsibility to be SALT and LIGHT to this world. And one small way I can do that is to influence society with my vote for this coming election. There are many other more important ways of course, but voting is one small way, that should not be ignored as some preach.

Here is the link...read the comments after the article and you will see that there are differing view points from Bills readers but also a deep respect for one another. I trust that we will afford each other the same respect here. I realize that many have a conviction that they should not participate in elections of any kind and I respect that, but I am not writing to you, but to those who are perhaps confused as to what to do and on the fence. If this article and my own rationale can help you...then well and good.

I am a passenger in this government (just passing through)... I have a unique responsibility to maintain it... NOT TRUST IT... Just as I allow my car to carry me down the road... This government was designed to carrying my family down a moral path (laws), an economic path, and a international path .
My responsibility is to look "under the hood" AND "down the road" and make the necessary repairs, and replacements, being mindful of the direction it is taking me.
Just as when I ignore the needs of my car I put my family in danger... so also when I ignore the needs of my government I put my family in danger.

In biblical times there was NOT a government of the people by the people and for the people... designed to be accountable to God fearing people.

Sadly, some God fearing people have chosen to leave the responsibility of "looking under the hood" to the godless... and then complain about the direction of the government.

Again, I trust the government about as much as I trust my car (maybe my car more)... but, I DO get involved with both of their maintenance... because they carry my family down the road at lethal speeds.

I know that on this forum the desire is to not be political, and I understand that, but I have been reading some of the background of the people that have mentored our current chief and I am grieve about their agenda. It is socialism pure and simple, even to the point of being like the USSR and China, which seems to works so well for the christians in those countries. That would mean no freedom of religion, no chance to do anything other than what you are told. Some of these people even have plans to dispose of those who will not comply. Well my first course of action is much prayer for God's will to be done. I know that the collision course for the USA is beyond anything natural man can do, the sin and wickedness is piled to the heavens, but I will vote for the one who doesn't have plans to turn the USA into a Godless, Israel hating, communist nation.

Saints let us give respect to whom respect is due. Tbe moderators have asked we keep politics off tbe forum and focus our thoughts on Jesus. Let us humbly submit to their request and speak of eternal things that build up. In light of eternity. This election does not amount to a hill of beans.

We appreciate the compliance. Saints, we feel the topic of politics can be just as divisive - if not more - than some of the doctrinal disputes many Christians contend with. It is for the sake of unity that we are asking brothers and sisters to refrain from political discussions in the forum.
