election (please read all the way through before posting)

IF you opened this thread hoping to find a post about the presidential election you won't find anything about that here...instead I wanted to share with you and remind you all about "OUR" calling and election in Christ. Consider these words from the book of Joel and rejoice in the only “election” that really matters, our election in HIM! :)

“Turn to me now, while there is time! Give me your hearts. Come with fasting, weeping and mourning. Don’t tear your clothing in your grief; instead, tear your hearts.”
Return to the LORD your God, for he is gracious and merciful. He is not easily angered. He is filled with kindness and is eager not to punish you. Who Knows? Perhaps even yet he will give you a reprieve, sending you a blessing instead of a curse. Perhaps he will give you so much that you will be able to offer grain and wine to the LORD your God as before!” (Joel 2:12-14)

I have been studying the minor prophets. They have the same theme that seems to run through them:

sin - judgement - hope

They expose the sin, warn of the impending judgement, but always offer hope.

And Jonah, after Nineveh repented and fasted, complained to the Lord and said, "in order to forstall this I fled to Tarshish, for I knew that You are a gracious and compassionate God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, and one who relents concerning calamity."
