Dear Brethren on SI,

I know that there have been many of the posts on this website regarding the American election and because many here are upset with Obama being President for another four years. I must say that voting for Romney would not be any better. Two presidential candidates - One who supports abortion and gay marriage, and the other who switches back and forth on his views in order to gain voters - A lying thief with nothing but deceit in his tongue. Now I've seen some posts here where people are talking about the fate of America; that America is doomed because Obama became president. I just want to say, when America was left with these two presidential candidates, the Judgment of God already fell on America. They are already doomed. As I sat on my couch yesterday watching people celebrating and dancing to Obama's victory in Chicago, Illinois, all I could do was weep by God's grace. People waving at the TV cameras with smiles and joy, not realizing that they are fallen men trusting in a fallen man. America has become one who trusts in flesh to be her deliverer and not God Almighty. The problem is not that we need a Christian President or Prime Minister (on my end) to solve our problems. Because even if the President has been supernaturally converted by the Holy Spirit to Christ, he still has a fallen flesh hanging on him, and if we put our trust in man, we are doomed to fail every single time. America needs God, not a man. Many Christians just like to associate themselves with the Republican Party of the US or the Conservative Party of Canada. Sure, they represent our values. The problem however is if they do not deliver their promises, or just simply care about their own gain, then I see no point in turning to these politicians for help and instead we should pray for our leaders as it says in 1 Timothy 2:1-3. Turn to Christ and rest upon Him. He is One who will deliver His promises in mercy, love, and grace. Pray that God will turn America to Himself. Pray that God will save the American people as they are deep in their sin. Pray that God will save them even in their unwillingness to repent.

I say this honestly, a friend of mine said that he's been on SermonIndex a few times, and he finds many of the posts just simply not edifying (I'm just paraphrasing). And I've wondered, where's the glory of Christ being exalted among believers? Where are the posts that help us trust in God even more? Where are more of the posts on the Gospel of Christ and on the true knowledge of God? I'm not saying we don't have any of these posts, but we should have more of them.

And frankly, going back to the whole Presidential Election subject, we can say "Oh America, what have you done?" instead of remembering the verse, "Judgment begins at the house of God..." 1 Peter 4:17. Remember, the reason people fall away from God is because they were never truly converted to begin with. And that is rooted in a false/bad gospel that is preached in the United States. The reason why men forsake the fountain of living water for broken cisterns is because we have been responsible for so many false conversions. In fact, we don't give the True Gospel and it does not lead them to the fountain of living water. The state of a nation is dependent on the state of God's people - His Household. It is not dependent on a president that fits your views, it really about people who are truly saved - love Christ and His Word. When there is a community of true believers, it permeates into society. Before we blame the American people who voted for Obama (I thought both candidates will lead America to destruction), let us look at ourselves and repent in dust and ashes for what we have done. Once again, the solution is not a president. The solution is God expressing His glory in and through His people. The solution was 120 brothers waiting in the Upper Room for the Spirit to fall upon them. If that flipped the Roman Empire and the rest of the world upside down, what makes us think God won't do that in and through His people? A president who is against gay marriage or abortion cannot change a person's heart, only God can. No man has the power to regenerate the human heart. God and God alone gets all the glory for that! A president cannot cure the rebellion in man's heart. Only God can!

God help us all in our times of trial and our coming tribulations. He will give us the grace to go through it all!

Can I ask, have any of us, knowing that America has a bad president, taken the initiative to pray for someone who is a homosexual, or a person who wants to abort her child? If Christ calls us the light of the world and the salt of the earth, should we not become who we really are in Christ?

Brother I will answer your question this way. Regardless of the Americas president we should always be praying for those who are lost no matter what sin they are living in. Presidents good or bad in the eyes of men have no barring on the commend given us by our LORD and KING to go forth and share the gospel.

This is just my thoughts and convictions on this and others might have something different to share.

I think we would do well to have a prophetic understanding of what the Scriptures teach on the judgment of nations. Daniel 2 teaches that all nations will eventually be overthrown. Romans 1 teaches the wrath of God "is" revealed from heaven against all unrighteousness. In a word: The entire world is always on fire from the wrath of God. America's ultimate doom was secured before her inception. All nations are taking their stand against the Lord's anointed, but God will hold them in derision. America has never been an exception to any of these things. From God's perspective America isn't simply going to fall, America "is" fallen.

While Obama's reelection is of concern to me on a number of levels, I don't see his reelection as being of great prophetic significance in the fate of this nation. He's merely one of many fallen heads who have led this nation. America will fall not because of Obama, homosexuals, socialism, or abortion. It will fall because it is the fate of all nations that are not the kingdom of God.

Many people for a long time have been repenting and praying for the sins of our nation, we need to continue in that vein. No president can do, or change what only a praying, holy church can. When our lives reflect the life of our Lord Jesus Christ, and we lift Him up, all men will be drawn unto that beauty. It will stand out like a beacon in a storm.

In response. We are to be walking epistles.. We are to be praying Our prayers are heard.. One condition.. PUSH we are to pray with clean hands and pure hearts.. Seems to me that no matter who won the election GOD is still on the throne. I agree with this brother.. we are to trust in GOD not man.

Just a thought: Could it be that the direction of America and the result of the election (ie. the need to re-define marriage, doctor-assisted suicide, legalizing marijuana) was affected by the direction of The Elect?

I would like to respond to this issue from a mother's perspective.

Our nation has in recent years seen a rapid decline in moral values exercised in the public arena. People will do what they know they can get by with.

Marriage between a male and female has been questioned and replaced with homosexuals 'unions'. You know what this all entails - I do not have to tell you.

The state has taken control of the education system so they can feed their godless propaganda to the young and innocent thus depriving them of their innocency.

Governments have initiated laws that tell hospitals what they can and can not do, limiting people's freedoms to live out their conscience in this arena.

We moms have children - which is what makes us moms! We have the instincts to protect them from the wolves that prey upon our charges and these wolves are men in law offices who enact laws that will work to rob moms of their children. When the state usurps the authority of the parents it is a cause for alarm!

Here comes a national election and we will look at these candidates and wonder who will best allow me to raise my child with the least amount of interference from gov officials?

I suggest you read up on what happened in the USSR, Romania, Ukraine when the Bolsheviks took over in the early 1900s. What happened to the dads? They were hauled off to prison, many never to be seen again. And who took care of the family? Mom. Food and clothing was scarce. Police prohibited people from sharing their goods with these families.

Yes, I fear what will happen to the mothers and the children once Communism becomes to governing philosophy of this country. I have read what happened in the past and it is scary. It is easy for the men to say, "Pray". They are either dead or off in prison - they do not see the children cry from hunger, see them chilled for lack of heat or clothing...

I know one should not fear, that God will be with His children, but I regard this with greater horror then I do cancer! Sure, I know about God's sustaining grace and mercy...but there is still a good reason to be concerned.

Consider the moms and dads who have been indoctrinated in the public schools. It is horrifying to consider their priorities are not for their children in the way yours are. They do not have God's priorities as their goal, even for themselves.

The Party that booed God won, we must stand for God as He gives us the strength to do so. I am through with politics and earthly leaders, my eyes are on my God. He is all that matters.

This I well know.

It is so sad...schools used to pray before the day began...

Now in schools they teach kids about homosexuality - hey! how old were you when you learned this word existed? I was either a teen or an adult - meaning I was over 21 YO.

School clinics can haul your daughter off to have an abortion without a word to mom or dad! How much worse can it get unless there will be experimentation done during sex ed?

Or, if you are raising your children according to Christian principles, some ambitious social worker may see it as oppression of some sort and take your children away from you! It has been done...

These are some of the things I fear - many will think it won't happen to me - hope not but the reason I fear is because this is the modus operandi of a godless gov hell-bent on destroying the Christian family/home.
