Why is there so much divisiveness?

Why is there so much divisiveness on the SI forum? Why not strive to be a blessing to others. SI forum could be such a blessing to others if only we would strive to be a blessing to others instead of being so critical of everyone’s point of view. Why not try to understand the feelings of others so that we can edify one another instead of tearing down one another.

Why can’t we practice biblical principles by forbearing with one another in love? Why not esteem others better than ourselves? Why can’t we just respect others in their point of view even though we may see it differently?

Take the election for an example, some of my Christian brothers and sisters who love the Lord could not vote because neither man was a godly choice. I respect them in their point of view because they love the Lord and that is how they see it. Other Christian brothers and sisters who love the Lord voted for the one who they believed would help the nation toward better moral values because they were voting for life, liberty, and traditional marriage. I respect them in their point of view because they love the Lord and that is how they see it.

Now the one who voted and the one who didn't vote did it unto the Lord in that they were striving to please the Lord. Let’s not judge one another anymore because we only know in part and will all stand before the Lord and give an account for our own self with the freedom he has given us. Let’s not be a stumbling block to our brothers and sisters who may see things a little differently in the freedom that we all have in Christ.

May we all pray Dear Lord help me to love my brothers and sisters and realized that we are never going to see everything exactly alike but help me to give them the benefit of the doubt that they also love God in the light that they understand. Help us all to live out our God given convictions and help us to grow and be willing to change according to the light we receive from thee. In Jesus name, Amen!

Others shall know that we are His disciples because of the Love we have for one another!

Tremendous exhortation and post. May God soften our hearts to serve (strengthen and encourage) each other in the body of Christ here on this site.

Religion itself breeds divisiveness whether we like it or not because it is something we own when we embrace it personally. When someone comes along to knock it around a bit we tend to get defensive and react according to the flesh. Look around the world as well as in history. Beyond politics, religion is a leading issue of war because it is a very personal thing. I liken it similar to having your personal character attacked and wanting to do something about it. It is also a reason why many shy and run away from a religious belief because of what they see from others.

-Quote from John

Yes, and Jesus teaches His disciples to truly love one another as He loves them. His disciples are to be different from the rest of the people in the world.

John 13:34-35 (KJV)
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.
1 John 4:7-21 (KJV)
7 Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God.
8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.
9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
10 Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
11 Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.
12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.
13 Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.
14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
15 Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.
16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
17 Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 We love him, because he first loved us.
20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
21 And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.

1 Corinthians 13:4-13 (NKJV)
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up;
5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil;
6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth;
7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.
9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part.
10 But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
12 For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

Colossians 3:12-17 (NKJV)
12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering;
13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful.
16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.

We should be compassionate, kind, and loving toward one another as true brothers and sisters in Christ. God is love and we as Christians should be leading the way, and the rest of the world should be taking notice that we truly are Jesus’ disciples because of His love in demonstration toward one another.

I agree with your last post but there are many who do not practice such things and as a result we have the divisions and traditions that choke it all away. Hence a reason why some run away from the church because they don't see love, forgiveness and justice. Only strife, envy, emotional damage and so on. Pride is probably a cornerstone of it all.
