Sounds good. But friend, wouldn't it be better if we were about the mission of the church? Hitting the streets two by two and preaching Christ to all.

They are classics and great books. I am glad that you have them.

Has anyone ever had a book about evangelism cause them to go out and evangelism? If so please share your experience?

If I had an example mine would be 'Hell's best kept secret' by Ray Comfort. It deals with the Law and how the law convicts one of sin because society is ignorant of what sin is and so is the church. In this case the Law refers to the 10 Commandments. I think it is a good reference point for anyone who wants to preach and doesn't know how to. The Commandments can give a guideline. Gotta be careful though because they can be used to inflict harm on a soul as well. Many people have been soulishly harmed by hell fire and brimstone and a tone of pure hatred with the Law.

Definitely Ray Comfort's evangelism teaching had a huge impact on my evangelism zeal and efforts also. The book that had the most impact was titled "Revival's Golden Key"(now titled "The Way of the Master" book). Before I came across Ray's biblical teaching I had a zeal to reach the lost but would often be very discouraged and confused, being used to the "God loves you and has a wonderful plan for your life" message and method, along with the "sinner's prayer" method. After the Lord opened my eyes through Ray's teaching I started seeing visible results of the gospel making much more sense to the lost than before. Those I shared with now understood more why they need the Savior. I became much more bold in my evangelism. I thank God for leading me to that teaching.

Having said that, I am sure one would be very blessed and equipped by the books recommended in the OP by jonandvera. I am familiar with most of the authors on the list and would highly recommend them.

In case anyone is interested, here is the link to a free book in pdf and audio which is a consensed version of "The Way of the Master" book:

One of the books that has helped me, besides Ray Comforts stuff and those classics already mentioned http://bit.ly/Evangelism7 is Mark Cahill's "One Thing You Can't Do in Heaven." Very challenging and practical book on evangelism.

I also find Jesus himself to be a great example (of course!) though his methods are sometimes overlooked.
- In John 3 with Nicodemus it was a quiet, but direct personal conversation.
- In John 4 with the woman at the well he didn't hammer her over the head, but gently helped her see her own emptiness; then used a prophetic word/word of wisdom to reveal her sinfulness and need of a Savior.

Jesus used different methods with different people. And often his approach with crowds was different than with individuals. Sometimes, I'm afraid, we try a one-size-fits-all approach to evangelism...which can be a lot easier than trying to be sensitive to the Spirit (!), but in the long run isn't as effective!
