I always get fearful of coming across as a know it all or something of that like when I share certain things. But I still remain convinced that at least part of this may be relevant. I shared it with a close brother I know and he had no problem with it. But it just so happens I was watching a bit of Christian television recently. A man was speaking at a recent large conference for Christians and he had power in his words. His words were strong and anointed as he spoke of how there were many things going on in the land and the world today but he stressed above all that the Holy Spirit was still working in the land and the world today. He reminded everyone that our hope was not in political parties and that no matter how many Goliaths or secular "isms" were manifesting in the land and the earth today today that the kingdom and the Savior were vastly pre-eminent. He spoke of the moral restoration of Amercia and its leaders and the large audience began to rejoice and stand to their feet and praise the Lord and wave their Bibles in the air. I was encouraged also. The Spirit was in his words and I can understand the audience's reaction and there is nothing wrong with any of what he said or with the reaction he got. But I was particularly struck by the fact that not once did he mention Israel or the coming conflict that will in my opinion shake world stabilty and become the main epicenter of controversy in the world. Which of course will dramatically involve the church. I always feel largely unqualified when I see things through critical eyes and it's hard for me to speak against such a powerful word that this brother had. I'm not really trying to speak against his word but I couldn't help but take notice of what he left out if his purpose was to help the church see and understand and be encouraged in its mission today. Yet he didn't mention Israel one time. I don't know exactly where he is coming from and what his views are so I don't want to peg him incorrectly. I've never seen him before today anyway. But in much of the body of Christ it seems the moral restoration of Amercia is proclaimed and preached and seen as the main thing on God's agenda versus the restoration of His covenant nation Israel. Of course America's restoration is a noble goal. Who can be against that? But what is the "big picture" against which all else should be framed? So many speakers and even prophets who give words concerning the future seem devoid of the context of the larger picture on God's agenda regarding His still entranged nation and their restoration in Christ. How is the age to end? Where will the church find itself at this juncture? It makes me think that a great stirring of the prophetic consciousness of the church is needed and a renewed study of the prophetic scriptures is very needful for the church today. I'm sure many here may agree with that so I'm probably largely preaching to the choir in a way. Yet how can one preach mightily about the move of the Holy Spirit and the role of the church in these days and leave the coming conflict that will swirl around Israel out of the mix? Especially when we see it shaping up in literal time and space just as predicted by the prophets. And even when Israel is spoken of (it certainly wasn't by this speaker) many times it seems to be in the context of they will always achieve victory no matter who or how many comes against them. The coming course of suffering course they will go through to achive peace and a final victory totally from the Lord is rarely considered in the fulness of its implications even if Israel is mentioned.
I always get uncomfortable when I say such things because I'm keenly aware of my own shortcomings and how my own view may need adjusting by the rest of the body. Still, the fact is, this brother had a strong and powerful word of encouragement to the church and its mission during the coming days yet he didn't mention Israel or the big picture one time. I end by stressing I'm not a know it all but I remain more and more convinced the true depth of the prophetic scriptures may lay virtually untouched by many during our day even while those scriptures are increasingly vital for the church of our day. Will the age just end or is there a certain geographical conflict and struggle clearly portrayed as the epicenter around which the shaking of all things will swirl?
Well,'nuf from here. Blessings to you good folks.
