Brothers and sisters,
I am making catechism cards for my young boys (1 and 3).. such as “ God Wrote the Bible” , “God is Holy” , “ God is One” with scripture references ( and a picture , but never representing God ) … And I want to create a card saying that “God is good” I have the scripture Mark 10:38..
My question is Why is God Good? And how would that be portrayed? Ideas are most welcomed..,
Thanks
andy

The list could be massive but since it's for a 1 year old and 3 year old.

God is Good because of his nature.

God is good because of his acts.

Anytime I see an uplifting/encouraging thread like this one, I like to respond or be a part of it. "God Is Good-Because He Is God".

I have more a goal to read scripture describing God to my son than any other from the bible. Not that He can't be found all over scripture but especially interesting is what God attributes to Himself. Even the bolt of lightning hits its mark not apart from His will and direction. So much to draw from and aid a child in seeing the world the way it was suppose to be seen, through the eyes and mind of what was created for that very purpose. Very inspiring indeeed! Why is God Good.....because He is God (as one has already said) AND CANNOT DO LESS.....but who is this God? May He bless you and give you what you need.

First, let me say that I think your idea with the cards for these young boys is excellent; it's never too early to start teaching them God's word and it's amazing what little ones can grasp.

I believe that if you read through Psalm 136 you will get some ideas for pictures. That Psalm begins with, "O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good:" The Psalm goes on to tell about all His goodness in His manifold wonders and acts. Maybe something there will inspire you.

In Christ,

Ron

One way you could impress upon young children the goodness of God is by showing them the beauty as found in nature, including the colors, textures and shapes. This can be done with pictures; going for walks in the woods, creek; having a pet they must care for, allowing it to reproduce, having babies.

When I was a child I loved to trail dad all over the farm, helping with the feeding of all the animals, chickens and turkeys. Many times it was dark by the time we finished. As I walked with dad, my hand in his large ones, we would peer up into the sky, stars shining ever so brightly and we would talk about God, how awesome He is to have made the stars and hung them up there in such a grand way. Watching lambs play, or watching sows birth their young - even assisting in this process filled me with awe at an Almighty creator who made things so beautiful, so awesome.

I still recall vividly the sense of awe I felt for God at these moments. It has never left me.

Andy, not to beat a dead horse, but I was reminded of Gods intercourse with Job. We all hold to an image of Job and esteem him highly. His sacrifices on behalf of his family and his fear of God that would have been part of his children's rearing. A man who feared the variou prides of life and the destruction they could bring to the relationship he valued above all others. His love and reverence for The Lord, in that no matter what befell him, he would not curse and turn from his Lord and Creator. A wonderful man no doubt, I imagine him a great leader and example to the Christian brotherhood today. We have many a man recorded on sermon index who we might imagine being much like Job, but in everything that Job was, God (opportunity to see Christ the Creator here) sat him down like a 3 year old (one of your sons age) and gave him some relevant basics good for 3 year olds as well as grown men like us and Job. God bless your time with you children.
