Wilkerson offers this thought about God’s view of dealing with sin... “The Old Testament law stated that any woman ‘caught in a field’ and overcome by man would be redeemed if she cried out for help before the terrible sin was perpetrated. But if she didn’t resist the sin violently and cry aloud for help, she would also be stoned! The point? When approached by temptation, God REQUIRES OF US that we RESIST VIOLENTLY AND LOUDLY!! Don’t passively yield under the banner of “God will forgive Me.” RESIST!! HARD!!

I love the picture this paints for me in my mind because it shows just how seriously GOD wants me to understand that I must "resist", and "flee from" sin. How I must "cry out loudly" to HIM for the help in overcoming that sin! The temptations of sin are no small matter, sin is not something I can face alone...with HIM I have strength to "resist, cry out, flee, and overcome"!!

thought this was a timely reminder considering the times we live in and the temptation for fearing and worry about tomorrow.

Thank you for sharing the thought from D. Wilkerson. I have read it long back, thanks for reminding it again. This reminded me of this below scripture.

Matthew 14:29-Jesus said, “Come!” And Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But seeing the wind, he became frightened, and beginning to sink, he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and took hold of him, and said to him, “You of little faith, why did you doubt?”

The moment Peter felt he was sinking he shouted out for help from the Lord. And Jesus stretched out his hand immediately. If I hate Sin so much and rest in God's power then I will be quick to shout for help. Jesus is always there to help me as I am walking towards him.

This is just an aside...back to the literal application of this law - when a woman was being accosted by a male she was to YELL, SCREAM to get attention hoping someone will deliver her from the clutches of a rapist. God gave females the ability to SCREAM, YELL for a purpose and we are to use it when the situation warrants it.

Many years ago at church another lady and I were talking outside on the driveway when a little child ran out right in back of an car that was backing out. Both of us SCREAMED HARD. Got my second breath and screamed HARD again. The driver stopped because he had seen her (unknown to us) and he heard us as well. But I never felt bad for having yelled so hard - it gave me a headache afterwards.

Oh, and do we respond as hard when confronted with sin, temptation? Something to think about.
