Who weeps for the children?

sermonindex Dec 14, 2012

The heavens are clothed with blackness
And the sun has fled away
Who will weep for all the children
On this most terrible day

My heart is so thoroughly broken
And is wounded in so many ways
Who can heal this broken heart of mine
On this most awe-full of days

I will cast my eyes to the heavens
As this world tears away at my soul
And my eyes will pierce the darkness
Even as this horror takes its toll

My only hope is in the Son above
Despite all the darkness around
And I will remember the children
And in His arms they shall be found

Suffer the children to come unto me
In my arms they shall surely be blessed
And woe unto them that harm these ones
Their soul shall never find rest

Better a millstone around their necks
And they be cast into the sea
For those who harm these little ones
Will suffer eternally

Take hold of my hand you mom and dads
My heart weeps to see such pain
Hold onto hope and let not love die
You will see your little ones again

Weeping ... Weeping ... Weeping ...

OH GOD, help us to repent! Our nation is SO FAR from You! We have drifted and drifted until there is no more conscience. Have mercy upon us. Grant repentance as You have in the past. We NEED a nationwide repentance; a return to You!

God help the families who are suffering we pray. Oh God cause this horrible situation to provoke prayer meetings of repentance all over this country. You've done it before. Oh God we need a revival of repentance.

We petition your undeserved favor upon our wayward land. In the midst of the judgment that we deserve, we beg for mercy that once again, at least one more time, a revival of repentance may take place. We are weeping Oh Lord. Turn our hearts to repentance, we appeal before Your holy throne.

****************************
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. – II Chronicles 7:14

hi, acouple of years ago the Lord spoke to me very clearly and said we need to humble ourselves. He told me that we were a proud and haughty lot and that is why our prayers were hindered. we think we have the truth in our group and speak evil of others who do not see things the way we do.we accuse the brethren. we criticize too many things. we live egocentric lives.humble us o Lord so we can go on to praying the way You intended.jimp

In reading this poem, my mind for some strange reason went back over 2000 years ago when mothers were weeping for their children as well. Herod sent soldiers to kill all those two years old and under - all because Jesus was born. God could have prevented that, but he didn't. And he did not prevent this one either. Maybe God allowed it so man can in a more real way understand the wickedness that resides in the heart of man - don't know, just guessing. In any case my heart weeps for those families...Just hope they will look to the LORD during this time and allow Him to do his work in their hearts.

I know one thing it won't be just the victims' families that will need their hearts and minds bolstered - it will include all the rescue personnel, the law officers, the janitors, school teachers, students...

Perhaps God can use this to spark a revival?

Lord, have mercy!

Frank, I understand.

This shooting is so tragic...innocent lives lost, but then so is sin - the innocent are the greatest victims.

Thank you Frank for the poem. I live in CT. about an hour away from Newtown. Watching the events unfold on the news I just kept praying. I could not imagine the terror that must have filled the hearts of each parent as they ran up to that school looking for their children. There are no words to express the pain and heart ache I am sure these families are suffering tonight who lost loved ones. Having something like this happen so close to home, knowing little defenseless children were the targets and victims just makes me sick at heart. So many here in the area are just in shock asking how could something like this have happened here? My son asked how could someone do such a horrible thing and all I could say to him its because of sin in this would...More then ever we need to pray and seek GOD so many are hurting...

God bless
maryjane

Thanks Frank!

This is a fantastic poem. I have thought about many times since it was posted today.

It reminds me of an old song by Randy Stonehill (a friend of Keith Green). Each time I hear it, it reminds me of Sister Ginnyrose as she works so diligently in her VBS program.

Who Will Save the Children?
by Randy Stonehill

Cry for all the innocent ones
born into a world
that's lost its heart
For those who never
learn to dream
because their hope is crushed
before they can start
And we shake our fists
at the air
and say, "If God is love,
how can this be fair?"

But we are His hands
We are His voice
We are the ones who must
make the choice
And if it isn't now,
tell me when?
If it isn't you, then tell me
who will save the children?
Who will save the children?

We count our blessings one by one
yet we have forgotten how to give
It seems that we don't want to face
all the hungry and homeless
who struggle to live
But heaven is watching tonight
tugging at our hearts
to do what's right

And we are His hands
We are His voice
We are the ones who must
make the choice
And if it isn't you, then tell me
who will save the children?
Who will save the children?

As we observe them through our TV screens
they seem so distant and unreal
But they bleed like we bleed
And they feel what we feel
Oh, save the children
Save the children
Save the children

Now we decide that nothing can change
and throw up our hands in numb despair
And we lost a piece of our souls
by teaching ourselves just
how not to care
But Christ would have gone to the cross
just to save one child from being lost

And we are His hands
We are His voice
We are the ones who must
make the choice
And it must be now
There's no time to waste
It must be you
No one can take your place
Can't you see that only we
Can save the children
Save the children
Save the children
Please, save the children

Hi MJ,I can only imagine the pain. I remember the sheer panic when you lose sight of your child in a store, even for a minute. Now, I can only imagine a parent standing outside of that school. We buried our first son and his little coffin sat on my lap on the way to the cemetary, so long ago but only a mere thought away. There is something to wrenching, so tearing upon the soul at the loss of a child. Often the Holy Spirit has shown me Calvary from our Heavenly Father's perspective. He had to watch His Son die upon the cross and turn away from Him. Calvary is so simple and so complicated all at the same time. All I know is, if we can feel pain that threatens to tear the very fabric of our soul apart, what did our Heavenly Father feel? I pray for the parents of this catastrophe that they may find their peace in the Lord, for this I know, they will not be able to find it anywhere else, its too deep.............bro Frank

Thank you so much, Brother Frank, for putting such beautiful words to such seemingly senseless tragedy....I have been trying to wrap my arms around this all day. You have said what I could not find words for....Lord have mercy on us all!! Let's PLEASE be in prayer for God to bring good out of this as only He can.
