The Rock that is higher than I

It’s very dangerous to elevate men. It happens time and again in Christianity where men are revered, relied upon for doctrine and answers to every question. It is not only dangerous I believe, but sinful and harmful. Every single Christian must be grounded first and foremost on the solid Rock of Jesus Christ and led by the Holy Spirit alone. Once this is established, then other men's opinions and teachings can be considered in the light of your own revelation and illuminations from God and from His word.

In this personality cult age, the danger is even greater. The one name that you should find yourself talking about and discussing is Jesus. I guarantee you, that if you decide to pursue the deeper life, if you truly decide to follow after the Lord with your whole heart, then you will be brought to a point where this absolute co-dependence on Him will be established. All men will fail you, all agenda’s will fall, every pre-conceived notion will be tested in the fire, every formula will evaporate until you stand naked, stripped of all comforts and desperate.

You will be like the deer that panteths for the waterbrooks, you will seek God with your whole heart because if you do not you will die. In that desert, you will learn to depend solely on God to minister to you. Your husband or your wife will not do, your favorite preacher will not do, your most spiritual friend will not do, only the Rock that if higher than “I,” will do.

GOD ABOVE MAN

Men will say ” I will pray”
“I will take authority, I will bless”
Man thinks too much of himself
and his own holiness

” I am a man of God, can’t you see?”
“I am holy and wise, why I am a spiritual giant
to all the powers of hell, I’ll be defiant”

"And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder." And also, "Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded. Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed."

I am not going to tell you that you are wrong :) What can we do about it? Not much brother, not much. God raises up, so if He decided to raise up something visible to counter what you wrote about, He would/will. Yet, there is this to consider. God hides His children under the shadow of His wing, He protects them from the things of this world. Maybe if I had the platform I would be as bad as the folks you wrote about? Maybe its the platform itself that is the problem? Most platforms I have seen are elevated. Man is raised up even before he begins. Now, there may be very practical reasons for platforms, yet it does seem symbolic.

On another note, there seems to be a vein that runs through all of Scripture, the legitimate versus the illegitimate. Cain and Abel. Issac and Ishmael, Jacob and Esau, Saul and David, the Catholic church and the remnant church. Seemes to me that in every generation there are those who would be a challenge to Gods children. The key thing would be how we deal with such a situation. Saul and David seems like the best scenario to truly show how one should react to those people in positions of authority that seem to, by their actions, quench the Kingdom of God. David always respected King Saul, even although he himself had been anointed to be King, yet in Gods timing. David refused to do harm to Saul, even when he could have killed him in the cave. David killed the man who claimed to have killed Saul.

Now how does any of this apply to the situation today? I do believe that much of what represents Christendom is illgitimate. Yet I am not anti anything, I am pro Jesus. If Jesus chooses to raise up a visible witness in the earth, that is outside of mainstream Christendom ( and I believe that He will) then it will be His doing and His timing. Does that make sense? We can know the truth, but that does not neccecarily legitimize our actions to remedy the problem, because this can so often be done in the flesh...........bro Frank
