how to treat others as ourselves

B
brothagary Jan 17, 2013

i been thinking about the thread about disrespect and i was also thinking about the sermon index prayer and fasting that will comence soon in febuary,,

and i cant seem to get out of my mind the idea ,,that

maby it woukd be a good idea ,for as many as posable brothers and sisters christ on sermon index ,to conect via skype , to pray and meet one another ,to put a face and pesonality to our nik names

this could be done as a part of prayer and fast week coming up

what do all think

blessings

sermonindex Jan 17, 2013

Honestly, good luck with that. I have never met anyone in my life that "treated each other like our selves"

Yes, they will all pray and fast but

ABSOLUTELY NO ONE WILL LAY DOWN THEIR LIFE DOWN FOR ANOTHER. NEVER EVER.

We all say we will and maybe even mean it with tears at that moment but when push comes to shove, they will abandon you like the how all the disciples abandoned Jesus before his death.

I tried to do a wannabee version of that and I lost everything. I'm about to be go bankrupt again and lose everything for a second time in 3 years, I will have to apply for food stamps soon. I gave up about $250k in lost income, 401k, savings in the last years. Guess how many people came to my aid? ZERO. I did it cause that's what God told me to do. I will never do that again. I don't care what call I get from "God".

I learned a valuable lesson, do not trust other people, no matter what. All these friends I went to witness with and heal people with. I sacrificed so much to help them. None of those guys offered any help when I'M THE ONE THAT NEEDED HELP. NONE. and no one will.

TRY IT FOR YOURSELF.

I did and now I know the answer. Even "the most closest guy to Jesus" on this forum won't help you. It's all talk. They will all "pray for you."

Don't ever listen to what they tell you. Look at how they live their lives. What did they sacrifice willingly for Christ? Anything? probably nothing.

Luke 6:27-36
“But to you who are listening I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. If someone slaps you on one cheek, turn to them the other also. If someone takes your coat, do not withhold your shirt from them. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. Do to others as you would have them do to you. If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, expecting to be repaid in full. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be children of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

Living out the bible like Jesus talked about in the gospels is

ABSOLUTE SUICIDE!!!!!

especially in the world we live in today. At your job, you have to be cunning and guile to just to "keep" your job nowadays. Before people were cunning because they wanted to get promoted and were greedy.

This is the only guy that lives out those verses, it's the homeless preacher and even this guy is bashed by christians.
I would say Keith Green and David Livingstone are other examples of truly sacrificing everything to obey Christ, in the midst of EXTREME suffering.

I can't do this anymore. God is nowhere to be find and I don't know anyone else that does this besides the examples above.

dear codex, i live in the deep south and i find my testimony is just the opposite. i have dance friends that have come and cleaned my room and bought furniture for me so that i may be more comfy in my old age and time in a wheelchair. i have a ex bible school student that sends me a part of his tithe to help me. i have many christians that come by and make sure i am in need of nothing. i have 2 men who have offered thousands if i need it.one who has proven his love in the far past.i have lived in a million dollar home and now i live in a room for 300 a month furnished including utilities.God has been my source.jimp

i take what jesus said seriously,,when people steel from me i dont seek revenge ,or restatution ,,,i believed god is working somthing for good ,and teaching me patience and forgivness ,,,,,,we cant say we are paient forgiving people if things like this dont happen to us to test us ,,,and if we are not forgiving people ,we cant lay claim of haveing recieved gods forgivness ,,becasue when you truly have tasted gods mercy ,you will tho we fail want to show mercy in the end to every one and every situatain ,,god will more grace in the harder tests ,,but we must first get through the little tests

i try to treat other like my self ,,i aim to treat that better then my self ,,im verry hard and im not so forgiving somtimes with my self ,,i aim not to be hard and unforgiving on others ,,its not easly ,,but all things are posable to those who have been givern true mercy from god

im verry sorry codek about what you say loseing every thing ,,i cant realy talk to you about that ,i dont no the details ,,, i dont think you wer in fellowship with true christans,,a tree is knowne by its fruits

the bibles says that the love of god doesnt dwel in you ex friends that is why they did not help you ,,,

faith with out works of love ,is dead faith ,,not real faith ,, true faith will allways help others in need ESPECIAL A PRESIOUS BROTHER IN CHRIST

codek i have nver had to be cunning guile to keep my job or get a job ,,,,but i had to learn to forgive people ,,maby your not in the profession god wants you in

codek not everyone is called to live on the street and preach the gosple ,,,,look through the book of acts ,and read pauls letters and peters ,,and keep it all in a bibical contex ,,dont ever ever ,take verse out of a full bible contex ,, let the bible interprate the hard verses with the help of the spirit ,,, the new testament leters and acts gives us examples of of how christans lived ,,and they did not all live on the streets

we have to learn how to put out things on the alter as the are brought to light by the holy spirit

brother i was hoping that this would not turn into a decusions off the topic ,,,but i dont know what to say to to you ,but take you anger and disust to the lord and confess it as the sin that it is ,,and see where that takes you ,,take it to the god of the bible ,and not to the god of your godless healing witnessng exfriends

bless you in the name of jesus

That wasn't out of context.

And Jesus was commanding us to love our enemies, not merely just not retaliate against them. Even the sinners do that.

Who said anything about homelessness?

Read the passage again, please interpret what it is saying then, in your own words.

Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

you mentioned the homless preacher is oone of the only ones who are following jesus ,,that why i said we are not all called to do that

when i said keep it in a bibical contex ,,look at how the christans lived in acts ,and how they are decribed in the leteres of the new testament

keep that all in mind as contex rather then grab some verses out of the bible as a whole ,,let the whole bible interpret the verses that are neeed to to aply to ones life

those verese are verry clear ,paul and peter more all less said the same thing ,,,you can take them as they read

love youe enemy rather then hate ,,,be kind to them

dont lend money to people with a covertus heart to want back what you have lent ,,,give it away in you heart and leave it at that

if some one holds you up in the street for you wallet or money ,give him your watch ,and dont attack him to try to get back what he stole ,,or attack him trying to hold on to what you think is yours ,let him have it

i have to go pick my wife up from work catch you later

jimp, I do respect you because of your experience. I'm not trying to refute your experience.

I am making an observation, not only based on what I have seen in my life and the lives of people around me but also the lives of everybody in the world.

If God is faithful and true and if the church is faithful and true, we're not suppose to have a couple of testimonies. We should "ALL" be experiencing God.

Yet I find so much to the contrary.

One example is of this 23 year old North Korean girl in the video below. She looks like she is in jr. high, both her parents dead and she is looking on the ground for any food to eat. Later she is found dead and I'm pretty sure she wasn't a christian.

My sufferings although, painful for me, still pales in comparison to the rest of the world.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LGR0BD2e1Ok

And we're not talking about one girl, "It's estimated that up to 3.5m people have died of starvation in North Korea since 1995 and up to 300,000 have fled over the border to China".

And that's only North Korea. And you know what, go through all the forums even here. How many "answered prayer" posts do you see? I saw one that I remember.

sermonindex Jan 17, 2013

brothergary,

i am looking at the context of the whole church of acts. The church of acts had no possessions of their own, it was communal. THAT DOESN'T EXIST TODAY. Most "christians" just like the world take care of themselves first and maybe do a little chruch activity, if that. How is a church like that like the church of acts? are you joking?

I understand what you are saying about the other epistles but why did Jesus say this, if we're not meant to follow it. Why is it in the bible? Why are you ignoring this passage? Tell me why it's in there then, you tell me your interpretation, then. Why are you ignoring this question?

It looks to me that you're ignoring this passage cause you don't really want to follow what Jesus said. He says these harsh words all the time in the gospels. Why is it in there?

@Brothergary,

I like your idea.

For the sake of clarity, I want to bring up the regular phone conference prayer gathering that is hosted by Greg and led by various members here. The phone conference obviously isn't a face to face meet-up, but I wanted to at least connect it to the idea you laid out.

Still, the idea of a face to face video chat is intriguing...we can lose our mystique!

Blessings,

Mike

mike i thought it might help with the way we treat one another , it would be verry edfieing for me to say the least ,,,,,,,,

iv said things about jehovaswitness that sound verry harsh ,,but it was coming from a loving burden ,,

i noticed even when i chated to the jw face to face i felt a strong love for them and i do love them ,,but it wasnt
till i saw there faces and talked that this love for them seemed to be tangelbel ,,,,,but saying that in all gentelness ,i concider them enemys of the cross and i hate there doctrines

yea brother it would be nice to pray with and encourage one another face to face ,,to remind us we are people and not just profiles and nick names

my wife just told me you can have maby ten in a confrence on skyp all at the same time ,,it would be great to meet ten saints at once here on sermin index ,,im sure my heart would over flow with joy

hi codek

we see that the church started out in ideal conditions so to speak and lived sharing everything ,,im certaint some groups and fellowships still try to live like that in comunes,, but it is verry obvious after reading the rest of the leters that other there never continued like that or that most did not ,it may have been when the church grew larger and larger ,that it changed its methods to suit ,,,,,im sure we can all spectulat on why it changed ,,but the bible doesnt say to my knowlage

remember codek ,the christan movment as a whole is an apostate church ,full of fasle converts ,and liberl doctrine to one degree or another ,,so we should not look at that and called them all christans

jesus said narrow is the gate and difical is the way that leds to life and there be few that find it

many he said will come to me in the last day saying lord lord ,did we not did this and that and prophecy in your name

i will say i never new you depart from me you workers of iniquity

wich veres are you saying i am ignoring ,,i wasnt planing to give and exposision on every verse in that passage you quoted from our lord ,,,,,,but like i mentioned ,it is a verry srait forward passage ,,if you look at my las post again i mentioned loving our enemys and if some one steels from you ,,if some one trys to mug you ,if some one wants to borrow money

what verses is it that you feel im ignoring ,,can you show me

at this time i and my wife are being threatened to be sued in court ,,by a poor person we have givern food to and money to many times ,,,this ex biker has turned on us for no reason ,but evil ,,,and all we ever did was help him

so i know what it is like to be treated bad for righesousness sake ,,and to love and pray for some one that seeming now hates us ,for no reason

i truly hope others might want to join ,,,and also start one them selfs my asking other members to whom they love to join and even other members who have had different opinions and heated debeats with one another ,,to break the ice ,and bond ,,,i pray god will help to forge the bond of peace through the unity of the spirit

what an age we live in a dark age yet god still blesses his people

For the past 10 years Gary I have only removed my clothes to have a bath. Which means that I am dressed day and night. I sleep on my bed with just a woollen blanket to keep off the chill. This means that I can be awake at any time day or night and don't have a sense of being disturbed. So please set your watch by your own needs. I am always ready brother.

This business of not undressing has more to do with a practical matter of being available for my son Daniel. However it has taught me that being prepared is a good thing. When Brenda makes the Skype connection and I accept your request to accept you into my contacts list my time zone will be displayed in your Skype browser. At the moment it is 10:28 here in the UK. Please feel free to contact me as you have a need and as you are led brother. It is always a blessing to have fellowship with those who love the Lord.

mike compton i did here about your phone confrence ,,im not entirely sure why i never joined in ,,,i think the time zone difference probably daunted me ,,becacue i tryed to watch confences live but was not able becasue of the time zone difference ,and my inability to solve simple problems ,, maby thats is partly why the idea poped in my head and i could not get rid of it

Just take 10 hours from your time and you will have my time. Your evening is always my morning. Your night is always my day. See you later then!
