I'm very excited about 2013, in part because we've developed some new ways that your monthly sponsorship gift will be used to benefit the orphans and unwanted children that we all love so much!
Over the past two years, Orphan's Tear has been working to help our 43 orphanages in Myanmar transition to become smaller and self-sufficient, like families. We're also encouraging Myanmar Christians to become foster parents. Progress is being made! Most of our orphanages are smaller than they were two years ago. And just this month, most of our Myanmar orphanage directors have completed a 6-day intensive Focus Business School where they've learned some basic business principles. Soon they'll be submitting small business plans, and we'll be offering them loans to help them launch their new businesses---on their road to self-sufficiency.
100% of your monthly sponsorship still benefits your sponsored child, but starting this year, your monthly support will be used for more than just direct financial assistance to the orphanage where your child lives. It will also be used to facilitate an even better quality of life for your child and other children through our foster care initiatives.
