As told in Nehemiah 12:27-43, there was an inauguration celebration for the rebuilt walls of Jerusalem.
There were priests and levites who purified themselves and the people. There were thanksgivings and songs. There was instrumental music that included cymbals, stringed instruments, harps and trumpets. Many princes and people attended. There was rejoicing with great joy. On the same occasion (v.44), priests and levites were appointed with duties that included stewardship of the treasury.
This week, the USA inaugurated President Obama and VP Biden for second terms of service.
May Almighty God bless them and their service. May He bless the treasuries of the nation and of the people. May we all enjoy quiet and peaceable lives in all godliness and honesty (1 Timothy 2:1-2).
