IHOP KC Bethany Deaton

Hi, I was wondering if others had heard the story out of IHOP-KC about Bethany Deaton? You can read a lot about it on the Truthspeaker wordpress blog. Anyway, it has caused me to give renewed thought to how aggressive or vigorous I should be in warning people against ministries like this now that their theology and practices can be so closely linked to the death of a young girl. Sometimes, I think, hey just preach the Gospel but then something like this happens and I feel greatly compelled to warn those who are drawn to hype and movements and the "big" things God is doing, but are unfamiliar with the ways of God. Anyway I have been doing a lot of reading on blogs like Beyond Grace, Truthspeaker, and Beth Cavete and I feel more urgency to be diligent to warn young people against running after these movements and hold fast to the truth.

I have reservations about tbe IHOP movement. What does concern me is tbeir emphasis on music and the soulish experiences that arise out of that. Their seems to be a weakness in the teaching of the word. The books of the Bible IHOP seems to emphasize are Song of Solomon Daniel, and Revelation.

I was surprised in visiting their book store to find nothing on Ephesians. Very unusual since IHOP speaks always of the bridal paradign of Christ.

The tragedy in question seems to have occurred in a group nit associated with IHOP. But the fact the group's leader had contact with IHOP and some of tbe things coming out of IHOP should raise concern to believers.

For younger belieers do a google search using
search parameter Jim Jones. Though many years ago. Message still true today. Body of Christ needs to be awake to subtle danger of cults.

My thoughts.

Bearmaster.
