Adam and Eve desired to be in control of their own lives, erroneously assuming that they could do so while still walking with God. This is a picture of Christians who have forsaken God's way for our own - all of us. Christianity in the free-world today has man's fingerprints all over it, but God's fingerprints are scarcely seen. We have erroneously assumed that we can walk with God while choosing our of way. We have all become hard of heart through the long, stubborn exercise of unbelief passed down through centuries of unbelief. Even the most holy among us have been guilty of falling for this great temptation all too often.
Every one of us who professes Jesus Christ as Lord should bow humbly before the Lord regularly, beseeching Him with all sincerity to reveal our own ways which we have chosen, and then stay before Him until the tears flow. We should live before Him with an attitude that is ready to exchange our way of thinking for His.
This kind of mind-set must accompany our much praying for revival, otherwise we reveal that we still lack understanding of what real revival will produce.
May the Lord of Glory continue to have mercy and grace upon us until we choose His ways altogether... then He will revive us.
Psalm 119:1-8
(1) ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
(2) Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
(3) They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.
(4) Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.
(5) O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!
(6) Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.
(7) I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments.
(8) I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly.
