New book by David Platt, "Follow Me"

I really like what new authors like Davie Platte and Francis Chan are saying but sometimes I wish they would just promote the great books already written.

For example Francis Chan's book "The Forgotten God" is excellent but there is a better book by Lloyd-Jones called "Joy Unspeakable"

Platte's book, "Radical", as good as it is--and I do like it--is topped by William MacDonald's "True Discipleship."

You might say that these new authors speak to their time but that's where I see their weakness. The great classics transcend their times. In ten years I don't think I'll be reading or recommending "Radical" but I'll still be reading "The Christian In Complete Armour."
