Revival and conviction of sin

Hi, I'm interested in anyone's thoughts on conviction of sin in the context of revival and evangelism. These days, it seems people have faith for healings, miracles, for finances etc, but few have a real expectation that when they preach the gospel that the Holy Spirit would truly turn up. When they share the Law, about sin, heaven and hell, the Cross and the holiness and love of God there seems little faith that God himself will come and convict unbelievers and make the gospel real to them. Most aren't interested in street evangelism, and the few I know (outside of a few friends that I do street evangelism with), who share the gospel, don't really seemed that concerned if people ever get saved or not.

A few times when I have preached the gospel, I have seen people get carved up and get radically saved. But I'm crying out to God for a mighty move (like I read about in past evangelical revivals), where the gospel is preached in the power of the Holy Spirit, and where such deep conviction of sin falls that many thousands repent and get truly born again in my city.

Do others here preach the gospel on the street? It seems to me that praying for revival and preaching the gospel go hand in hand.

Hi Harvestnow, I think you are right that there seems to be less interest in evangelism nowadays.
It is great that you have this burden. I believe people who have this concern are experiencing the filling of the Holy Spirit on a daily basis.

This lack of interest in evangelism by some churches makes me think that they aren't geared up to having evangelistic meetings and have become introspective. That whole ethos (character) seems to be getting passed on to church members each Sunday because of a lack of preaching on repentance and obedience. The grace message is being spoken more and more from church pulpits and I just think we are becoming complacent. I'm not sure if you think this complacency has something to do with the lack of evangelism ?

I heard that after the 2nd world war there was always one church service (each Sunday) which was an evangelistic meeting. The lost came in and heard stories about how other peoples lives had been transformed by following Christ. Testimonies were given along with a message which included the words 'hell' and 'damnation'.
