75 top Republicans sign letter supporting gay marriage

Hi saints,

Today it is reported that 75 top Republicans signed a brief in support of gay marriage. It seems that this is an attempt to " get out in front." of the Supreme court decision. They can then claim they legitimately support gay marriage and not just saying that because of a Supreme court decision.

I do not invite political comment. My observation is the swiftness of change as the cultural winds pick up momentum. I have no desire to discuss the obvious, but it seems that these kinds of decisions should highlight the fickleness of politicians and how quickly they will change their platform if it means either losing or gaining votes. One more reason to look to Jesus and all the more as we see that day approach. Everything that is held in high esteem will be shaken, and institutions will do, as they have always done, pragmatically move in order to survive and hold their status and position in this world...........bro Frank

This is alarming and shows the clear direction of the nations leadership. This really will not affect the Church meaning we can still be the Church and do God's will.

It is amazing how fast this has all happened in the last 10 years we have posted almost every major news article about homosexuality infiltrating many mainstream denominations and countries.

But it might cause more persecution and problems towards hate speech to show that homosexuality is a sin.

Unfortunately, I think you are right, Frank...sure wish I could disagree with you and be right.

You said, "Everything that is held in high esteem will be shaken" - you might as well include churches in this 'everything' . Twenty years ago this would have been unthinkable. Today it is almost unthinkable that a church would stand against it. The pressure to accommodate is immense.

It is a lot like the abortion issue: if churches would stand against it it would put abortionist out of business.

But let us go one step further - how about morals among the youth and adults who call themselves Christians? Moral purity is rare among them. I just read an article dealing with this issue on World magazine website...Lord, have mercy!

Christians have become used to the dark - "They are learning the way of the heathens." (Jer.10:2 and John 17:15,16: I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world). They no longer want to see the light...To believe in separation from the world earns one the label of being legalistic. You cannot live for the flesh and the LORD Jesus at the same time.

So sad, so tragic...

While I can understand the fickleness of the politicians and, unfortunately, even the wholesale slipping of the U.S. into cultural chaos, the thing most troubling to me is that these 75 think their letter should accomplish something of substance in this conversation. Marriage is a states issue, not a federal one. These guys better not unconstitutionally drag America officially into depravity. If they do, there may be no stopping them in their deviousness.
