FCC Set to Drop Ban on F-Word, Nudity on Television and Radio Stations Nationwide

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) announced it is considering dropping current broadcast decency standards that ban explicit profanity and "non-sexual" nudity.

Specifically, if enacted, the new FCC policy would allow network television and local radio stations to air the f-word, the s-word and to allow programs to show frontal female nudity, even during hours when they know children will be watching and listening.

It is accepting comments on the proposal from the viewing public until the end of April.

Current broadcast decency law prohibits expletives and nudity, even if brief or "fleeting." The Supreme Court has upheld the law as constitutionally enforceable by the FCC, despite lawsuit attempts by networks NBC and FOX to overturn it."

When I read this, I can't help but to think of a vision David Wilkerson saw. He said nudity would be shown on television while children would normally be awake and watching television. He also said whole families would be viewing pornography. Saints, that time is coming. We must be in prayer. We can also lift our voices to the FCC by going to the American Family Association's website and clicking on the link they provide that enables you to ask the FCC to not relax their rules. This act by the FCC, along with abortion and gay marriage, is piling up sin, and it is utter rebellion against God. I believe it is reaching heaven as the sin of Sodom and Gomorrah did. America must repent.

The American Family Association is about 10 years behind all the fuss.

In the fall of 2003, the FCC approved the use of the f-word as an adjective during the day and nighttime TV and radio. Where was all this posturing 10 years ago?

The way I read the actual FCC statement, it seems they are referring to isolated and rare incidents that may happen on occasion on live TV-- for example Janet Jackson's "wardrobe malfunction" at the super bowl a while back or an actor saying the F-word on live TV and they do not catch it is=n time to "bleep" it. Do you hold the network responsible for these situations, or not?

It specifically states it would not apply to repeated or egregious incidences.

No, the issue isn't consider torching the tube. That is like saying that every show is going to have some kind of cussing in it. That is pure ignorance and legalism. You simply find the shows you know you will not watch as a result and then the shows you do watch and you find that cancer creeping in, you make a note not to watch it either. Isn't it that simple?

For me, I am a radio junkie and there are certain shows I won't listen to either because of nasty language or the attitude is just very immature. This has include a Christian talk show as well. I radio for a little entertainment but also for social culture and to analyze and critique what is happening in society as a result.
