Recently we have joined together with a few other believers from our church to have a Saturday afternoon Bible study time.
Two main people in this group have been saying that you can't be a real Christian & struggle with everyday life...(I am not talking about obvious sin, but things like worry or loneliness etc).
This morning at Sunday church bible study, these 2 individuals were in attendance and the pastor leading the group mentioned that sometimes he may in frustration and anger, while listening to politicians on the TV shout back at them in frustration at their ungodly conduct and ideologies. These individuals accused the Pastor of being of carnal flesh and implied he wasn't really saved because he operated our of the flesh. This was done in accusation style. One of the individuals stated that she used to not be able to overcome petty issues in her life until she realised oneday that she wasn't actually really saved, then she became saved and no longer struggles.
Where do you all sit on this issue?
After being around these people I feel really discouraged as I do not have as much "faith" as them. Some days I really struggle, but thankfully I know I am born again.
I personally feel that there appears to be a danger of a "holier than you" attitude going on here, and I am trying to work out how to get out of this bible study and away from this attitude as I was ashamed of how this poor pastor was treated this morning. It just didn't sit right in my spirit...yet these are the first people I've met in my Christian walk who seem to be sold out...
Thank you :)
