There was only one way given to man to draw near to God in the Old Testament.
Those who drew near to God and His presence in the OT had to go to a physical place: the temple because that is where God actually dwelt: beneath the cherubim.
They also had to go through a priest which required blood sacrifices. This was the prescribed way God had given for man to draw near to Him.
In the NT after the sacrifice of Jesus and his blood that was shed for the sins of the world, there is no longer necessarily a physical place where we must go but we must go to be with other believers.
The physical place is no longer important because in the NT after the cross of Christ, the Lord no longer dwells in a temple made with hands as He once did.
He actually did dwell in a temple made with hands in the OT and it is astounding to think about: that Almighty God, Creator of Heaven and Earth would choose to dwell in a tent/temple on earth.
But this was only temporary until Jesus came. As it is written in the first chapter of John, the eternal Word who is God, tabernacled, made his tent among us. The second time God came to dwell on earth He came to dwell in the tent/temple of a man- the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the only begotten of the Father.
After Christ died on the cross and returned to the right hand of the Father we now live in the NT era where God has came a third time in the Holy Spirit. But where is his tent?
God dwells in the tent and tabernacle of every believer of the Body of Christ! Therefore it is no longer a physical place, and no longer only the sinless Lord himself which we must draw near to but blood-bought "people", people whom God is dwelling inside of by His Holy Spirit that we must draw near to if we want to draw near to God!
If we want to draw near to God, it is not a physical place you must draw near to, but to Christians.
God dwells in Christians
Drawing near to Christians is now the way to draw near to God
Drawing near to the lost is the only way for Christians to draw people to God
Lord help me to draw near to you and to draw others to You
In Jesus Name I pray. Amen
