Server Abuse on SermonIndex.net

sermonindex Jul 13, 2013

Dear Saints,

Please pray for protection and wisdom to be able to ensure the servers are not abused in anyway by people. We have many things in place to try and help prevent this but please do pray for other solutions also and pray for anyone who targets this website that they would come to a knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Currently there are problems with the bandwidth on the servers and we are looking into this. Please pray.

Our battle is not against flesh and blood.

Are you using a hosting service or are they your servers/routers/switches?

We host from very large hosting companies. This is the best way to go these days brother. Because it is scalable and virtual servers are able to expand easily.

The VM probably should not slow down the SI site, may want to consider having the forums on a different host, the company or host can configure the routers with pre-set throughput and give you several streams without it affecting the overall bandwidth, but thats all on the networkers and how they have the routers and switches setup and what they have in place for security, mainly a physical firewall server to the cloud. If they are running a VM it still has certain protocols it will have to use and site load from what I can see does not seem to spike to much above 125 or so, so even if everyones streaming all at once there should not be much that can change on the SI site itself. For those in Europe because globally we are in a transition from IPv4 to IPv6 the service will be slowed as these newer routing addresses are put into place. I know I have to go back and take phase 3/4(retaking Cisco security again next January too) again because of some of the new security issues with the Cisco hardware and some of the changes coming down the pike, plus the new devices, Iphone, Android, Ipad etc.... just like the days of old, all want to have a proprietary OS and making everything so that it handshakes seamlessly is a real brain crunch and for the networking community and has made for some interesting security issues, which will likely be on going server issues. Just make sure that everything on SI is backed up with 1 off-line copy and maybe mirrored with 2 on the host server.1 for back-up and 1 to replace a failed Hdd.
