Jacobs trouble

Not the best subject to disscuss, but one we should consider, as this is a reality that will come.

Scripture points to 2/3 of Jews being killed in the time of Jacobs trouble.

Zechariah 13:8-9

And it shall come to pass in all the land,”
Says the Lord,
“That two-thirds in it shall be cut off and die,
But one–third shall be left in it:
I will bring the one–third through the fire,
Will refine them as silver is refined,
And test them as gold is tested.
They will call on My name,
And I will answer them.
I will say, ‘This is My people’;
And each one will say, ‘The Lord is my God.’”

The question I am battling with is this, is it only in the land of Israel they will be killed or a worldwide slaughter. There are around 15 million jews worldwide out of that only six million reside in Israel. 5 million live in the USA. While over a million live in Europe.

If it's a worldwide slaughter your looking at 10 million people being killed, over 2/3 live in Israel and America or 2/3 live in Israel and the rest of the world, while the remaing third live in the USA.

If it's in Israel your looking at 4 million the scripture does say the land which I think means Israel.

I know Art Katz had a lot to say about Jacobs trouble, and he believed it would be worldwide slaughter. I suppose it will be like Christians, at the moment we see persecution in various countries but there is coming a time when it will be in every country.

My brother, when I saw the title of your post, I thought you would be writing of Jacob, the man, becoming Israel in Genesis, which would be very edifying, but which, I believe, prefigures the future judgement of the nation, all carried out by God as a loving Father with mercy and grace.

There's no need to "battle" with what the scripture says. The Land does mean Israel. See what Ezekiel says

Eze 20:33 As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out, will I rule over you:
Eze 20:34 And I will bring you out from the people, and will gather you out of the countries wherein ye are scattered, with a mighty hand, and with a stretched out arm, and with fury poured out.

I believe Revelation 12 paints a clear picture of the days you are speaking of. It succinctly describes some of the major events and characters.

It is my conviction that the "women" mentioned in the chapter is Israel, the dragon is satan/anti-christ and the "rest of her offspring" —those who keep God’s commands and hold fast their testimony about Jesus = the true church.

The chapter outlines that the "dragon" will at first (verse 13)persecute and pursue the "women" and later (verse 15) spew out a flood upon the women, in attempt to destroy her.

The "dragon" will have a season of world dominance, yet limited by our great God. It would appear that Where ever the dragons kingdom has power he will pursue the woman and when he can no longer reach her he will turn his hatred towards "her offspring" the church, that means us.

I know Art Katz had spoken of this flight of the Jewish people, yet to come, in many messages he spoke, as already mentioned in other posts.

I heard Art say that he believed that the "Jacob" of "Jacob's trouble" was not only a title, but a condition. Meaning that the Jewish people would more rightly be called Jacob at this present time because they are yet to meet the Lord in the wilderness (remember Peniel, genesis 32)and become "Israel".

Art also stated that he thought that Jacob's trouble could be found where ever Jacob (Jews) could be found.

so in answer
Where ever the reach of the anti-christ CAN reach, he will attempt to destroy the Jew.

There are many scriptures that I believe build a picture of God's last days dealings with Israel. I did a study on it last year and would be happy to send you a list of many scriptures that seem connected to this theme.

It seems to be a hotly contested subject in certain circles. I can only say that ever since I started reading God's word from end to end that it was one of the clear themes, simple me, could see throughout scripture.
