Judge: Foreigners can sue U.S. pastor over sermons

A federal judge has backed a homosexual-rights group in its claim that members were injured by an American pastor’s biblical preaching in Uganda against homosexual behavior.

But the ruling from Judge Michael Posner in a case brought by Sexual Minorities Uganda against Pastor Scott Lively of Abiding Truth Ministries could mean much more. It could establish that an international consensus disavowing long-held biblical standards could trump the U.S. Constitution.

SMUG alleges Lively must be punished for criticizing homosexuality, calling his speech a “crime against humanity” in violation of “international law.”

As I read this a thought occurred to me...

The sin of homosexuality is currently the most popular sin spoken against by conservative Christians. Opposition to it is the lightning rod of contention that gets many conservative Christians in trouble, either legally, socially or wherever.

But....what about the sins of adultery? Fornication? Can one get involved in homosexuality without first indulging in any of these other sins? Some have suggested that homosexuality is entered into after folks weary of heterosexual relationships because they soured. In any case, is homosexuality not a form of fornication? Why not address it with the same vigor as you do homosexuality?

They might have to shut up because of their own sins? Just wondering...

Good point, sister ginnyrose. The root of both heterosexual and homosexual fornication is the same. People LUST after the flesh and then seek gratification for their lusts.

Jesus covered this well in the Sermon on the Mount. If we allow God to rescue us from lust, the sexual sins of human nature are conquered by default.
