You asked for a rose

sermonindex Sep 30, 2013

YOU ASKED FOR A ROSE

I want to rest in the arms of your love
I want to soar with the eagles above
I want to spread my wings
And fly to where the angels sing

I want to lay down in pastures green
I want to go where I've never been
To simply rest in the knowledge of you
Is all that I want to do

I want to go to that place of rest
A place of refuge from trial and test
To the mountaintop in the valley so low
That's the place that I want to go

I want to be found in the depths of you
To fly in the sky above so blue
I want to walk into the Father's heart
And from there never be apart

You brought light to the darkness in me
You touched me and set me free
Your thoughts of me are beyond measure
This knowledge is my heavenly treasure

I asked for a rose and you gave me a garden
In the depths of my sin you brought me a pardon
And you have forever set me free
And gave me eyes that can truly see.

Praise God brother. We need that intimate walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. To be caught up alone with His greatness and beauty. Thank you for sharing your heart walk with the Lord, it is an encouragement for me to get alone with Him.

Yes, I was under a bit of a cloud myself and I remembered a true story about a man who always buys his wife a rose every week from the supermarket. One week he goes in and buys the rose and as he approaches the check out the Lord speaks to his heart and says " give that lady in the line your rose." Well the man struggled with this. He thought the woman, even although she was an older woman, may think he was trying to pick her up, or at the very least she would think he was a weirdo. Anyway, the burden did not lift, he took a deep breath and approached the woman and held out the rose and said " I believe the Lord would like you to have this."

Well, the woman reached out and even before she took it her eyes filled up and tears began to run down her face. She took the rose and explained to the man that her husband of a long time, dies several months previously. That morning she had been feeling isolated and wondering if the Lord had forgotten her. She explained to the man that for a long time her husband would buy her a rose every week. The man was blown away. The lady was receiving a rose from the Lord.

Well as I was walking and praying the other day, I was kinda feelin a wee bit like that woman and as I remembered the story of the rose, I asked the Lord " Lord, could you send me a rose as a token of your love." That afternoon I got a call from a dear older lady whom I had not heard from in about two years. She is one of the dearest and sweetest saints I know, and, for whatever reason, she really likes me :) She told me she just felt led to call and she prayed for me on the phone and in her prayer, knowing nothing of my own prayer that morning, reminded me of just how much the Lord loved me and so on." And so that wee poem was born with the line " I asked for a rose and you gave me a garden." Be blessed Maryjane, you are a dear sister in Christ and have encouraged me time and time again. Thank you for that............bro Frank

Wonderful testimony of the Lord's love and kindness. Thanks for sharing it. It really blessed me.

"The lady was receiving a rose from the Lord"

Who would have imagined that. The Rose of Sharon (Songs 2:1)
