Find Christian Fellowship | House Church Gatherings

sermonindex Oct 3, 2013

Saints,

This is a way to connect with some believers who are gathering under the Headship of Jesus Christ in smaller gatherings of 2-3 believers and house church groupings.

As per the website:
All these brethren are simply contact points for you to find Christian fellowship, to ask questions and to be encouraged in the work of the Lord. Though some may be gifted as shepherds and servant leaders, this is not a list of leadership for Gospel Fellowships. Contact Points are listed by region based by state and province. Gathering meetings are autonomous one-time meetings in local areas to encourage saints to meet together in small groups under the Headship of Jesus Christ, this is not a list of house churches for Gospel Fellowships.

Praise God. We do not have house churches listed on the fellowship finder but only contact points of brethren who have read through the Principles book: http://gospelfellowships.net/principles-book/ and really have sensed a basis of unity in the faith in it. So these contact points in different countries and regions are willing to serve other house churches and individuals to connect them. So it is not to just promote on house church but many as a servant. If you were able to read through the book and felt this is something you wanted to serve in Australia then let us know.

Also saints can run regional meetings where it will be posted on the website so believers can connect together and all of them encouraged to start their own house churches and perhaps "some" will join with already established house churches.

Hi Greg,

I have a question that I am sure you have been asked. Does a person just have to read through the book, or do you require them to come into agreement with everything in the book?

sermonindex Oct 3, 2013

another question I have:

Is there any centralized authority exercised over any of these remote house churches? Are there any other documents that you require these house churches to "opt-in" on or do you just require them to read the book?

I think it is useful to publish a network of house churches but am concerned about a "mother church", exercising some type of administrative authority over them.

That is why I am asking if there is any more that is required except to tell you, "Yes, we read the book"?

Hi Greg,

These are friendly questions and I would appreciate an answer when you get some time.

Thanks.

Excellent questions dear brother. I will try my best to simply answer them.

I have a question that I am sure you have been asked. Does a person just have to read through the book, or do you require them to come into agreement with everything in the book?

No, but one should agree with the general burden and thrust. Also the statement of faith is important not in every detail of end times events but definitely in the character of God, Christ, Holy Spirit and these things: http://gospelfellowships.net/pdf/statementoffaith.pdf

Is there any centralized authority exercised over any of these remote house churches?

There are no setup list of leaders for the movement. Each fellowship is accountable to the Lord Jesus Christ. And each group has servant leaders as the Lord raises them up. Then as groups connect with each other certain brethren might be looked to in submission to their godliness and walk in the Lord. So in this organic way leadership is recognized not by name on a list on the website. And there is no one leader, certain brethren are simply serving to allow biblical saints to connect with the burden and network.

Are there any other documents that you require these house churches to "opt-in" on or do you just require them to read the book?

Just the principles book and as alluded to above the statement of faith found in the book.

I think it is useful to publish a network of house churches but am concerned about a "mother church", exercising some type of administrative authority over them.

The main reason for not publishing all the house church groups at this point is to prepare for coming persecution. Also to ensure that men do not take charge but the Lord is in charge. So the thinking is opposite in many ways of the way denominations work.

That is why I am asking if there is any more that is required except to tell you, "Yes, we read the book"?

It is not a matter of just reading the book but to share the emphasis and spiritual burdens that we can all agree upon.

Again dear brother, these are 100% great questions and we are very happy to try and answer them as best as we can. Other brothers might also help from a different persecutive to articulate these things. At this point is has been agreed by many of the brothers involved this is a good way to go forward, some things could change but never towards a denominational control.

I could also add dear brother, that the benefit is simply in being encouraged by a larger network of believers and not just 1 house church. Also there are regional gatherings each fellowship can be a part of or host in their own area that will attract saints from different areas for like-minded fellowship, etc.

Thank you for taking the time to answer me. I think it is great and no, you should not publish the geographical location of these fellowships. I also agree with organic recognition of those with a heart to serve and not lording over the flock.

Thank you very much.
