When Jesus told John: "Surely I come quickly”, John said: "Even so, come, Lord Jesus”.
"And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come.” Rev 22:17 As a part of that Bride, filled with the Spirit, we should have the same deep yearning.
An old hymn that we used to sing a lot says: "Jesus’ coming back will be the answer to earth’s sorrowing cry”.
Until recently, when I would think about the 2,000+ language groups that still do not have any of God’s Word translated for them to even begin to understand, I would ask: "how could He come any time soon with such a hugely unfinished task?” ... knowing that he expressly declares in Rev. 5:9 that some will be redeemed out of EVERY language group.
Recently I reviewed something in God’s Word that re-sparked the urgency to cry out for his soon return:
Rev 14:6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
Rev 14:7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
This happened BEFORE the last 7 bowls of wrath were poured out.
If God chooses to bring the end before the church finishes the task of preaching this gospel to every language group, He will send a multilingual angel to finish off what we didn’t finish. Many testimonies are being heard of people (especially in the Muslim world) being led to Christ without any human intervention (http://www.morethandreams.org/dreamsofjesus.html ).
Obviously if we do not do our part as individuals praying for a revival of laborers being raised up and sent into His harvest, and sacrificing to support those who go where we cannot, we will be held accountable for such a burial of our talents. While we are waiting for such laborers to be sent, millions more are being born into cultures that will not receive the Gospel for many more years … unless an angel brings it to them, or unless Christ appears to them in a dream.
EVEN SO COME, LORD JESUS! This world is getting worse by the minute! I imagine that our brethren who are suffering heavy persecution make the Lord’s return a major theme of their prayers.
Thy kingdom come! Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven!
