He shuts his ear to the cry of the poor (persecuted)
Will also cry himself and not be answered.
Martin Luther King made the comment that we will know our friends by their silence. Perhaps the persecuted church can make that same commrment regarding the American church. For the American church has been very silent in the issue of our persecuted brothers and sisters.
Let me say I praise God for those precious few saints who do intercede for the suffering church and ever so faithfully. Some of them come in on my call Persecution Watch night after night and week after week. But these precious saints are few and far between. When I speak with the average saint about persecution of Christians in foreign lands I get this blank stare and a hasty change of topic.
For the most part the American church is deaf to the pleas of their persecuted brothers and sisters for prayer. They do not ask for money or even Bibles. They do not ask to be rescued or delivered from trials. They only ask that they not be forgotten and please pray for them. And pray they be faithful in their trials. Is that too much to ask the American church? Evidently so. For the American church turns a deaf plea to their prayer cries.
The irony in all this is the persecuted church is praying the American church to wake up to the persecution that is already on our shores. Even in N. Korea the persecuted church prays for the American church. Yet we do not pray for them.
When the American church cries out to God for help in the midst of her persecutions will He answer? I hope that we will not have to find out the answer to that question. Let hs remember our persecuted brethren in prayer. All they ask is we pray for them.
