Greetings
I was in the grocery store yesterday, and as I walked through the store a song that I have never heard before play over the sound system. The words spoke about living like you were dying. As I listened the thought struck me how selfish the lyrics were. There were some things in there about being a better husband, showing forgiveness and loving deeper, but there was also a lot of self in the words to this song. There was a lot of what "I" would do to improve or be a better person in my own eyes kind of thoughts that I was picking up on. I realize this probably was in no way a Christian song or meant to cause me to reflect on the things of HIS KINGDOM but GOD has a funny way of using everything to do just that. So as I listened to this song, I thought again about what would I do, what would my day look like today if I knew at midnight I was going to die. I was thinking I could fill a list just like the song writer did in the song, I could write about reading my Bible, sharing JESUS, and speaking with those around me about how short life is. I could say and even do all those things, good things, but I realized unless I pray first, unless I sit before HIM and ask "LORD what is YOUR will for me this day?" then it would be just as much about me and self as it was in the song. I would be determining what was the best way to spend my last days instead of walking in submission and obedience to HIM...
So here I am now still thinking about how would I live if I was dying. I spent some time in prayer thinking on this and GOD showed me, "Why ask that question as if it were something new to understand? Each day, each one of us is getting older and we are all dying, some sooner, some later. Why ask as if knowing the exact day or time this body will fail would change things? JESUS said to live each moment of every day as if it were my last? If I truly love HIM, if I truly desire to obey HIM and know HIM then I should already be living like i am dying..."
JESUS knew what it was to live like HE was dying, HE always did what the FATHER told HIM to, HE lived in perfect submission and obedience to HIM every moment of every day with out fail. He knew and HE set the example for us to follow...
Just some thoughts I felt led to share here with some few.
God bless
