Hang on Brother The night is almost over

sermonindex Nov 12, 2013

Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon,... that your faith may not fail....And when you have turned back, .....strengthen your brothers. Luke 22:31
Jesus statement concerning Peter reveals two important truth.
1) God allows Satan to tempt and test us only within certain limits and by God's permission. 2) Jesus prays that the faith of his people may not fail. As our heavenly intercessor, he prays for all who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. God is faithful in all our temptations to provide a way of escape.
( 1 Cor 10:13 ) Job felt confident that God still cared about his life and knew that no adversity would turn Job from faithful adherence to him. Job saw his suffering as a test of his faith Job firm conviction that he would pass the test and never abandon his Lord. Job 23:10 But he knows the way that i take; when he has tested me. I will come forth as gold. Your going to come forth as gold brother or sister just hang on, the night is almost over. For you, O God, tested us; you refined us like silver. You brought us into prison and laid burdens on our backs You let men ride over our heads; we went through fire and water, BUT you brought us to a place of ABUNDANCE. ABUNDANCE IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER HANG ON BROTHER OR SISTER YOUR ALMOST THERE THEN GOD WILL USE YOU TO STRENGTHEN YOUR BROTHER. HALLELUJAH

Hi Soulwon,
I really feel your speaking in the Spirit here.About 10 days ago I began thinking about Peter and his denial, then it a thought popped in my mind about how Jesus made him profess that he loved him three times to negate the 3 denials. Then I thought of my denials.
Then I started writing this and when I finished it I marveled at how wonderful God is both for his restoration and his ability to give me this poem,I think you'll like it.

ME,MYSELF AND PETER

Well before the dawn the bird called out,
I looked at you in shame
For through the night I had denied my Christ
again and again and again

Do you love me?You know Lord I do
You know all things from the beginning to the end,
You know me through and through

At the evening meal I crowed
"I'd never let you down”
but I was first to say
"this Galilean I've never known”

Do you love me?....Once more?Yes my Lord I do
You know all things from the beginning to the end,
You know me through and through

Great joy for me when now I see
you resurrected on the shore
I've turned back restored with authority to feed your sheep
In bitter guilt I’ll weep no more

Do you love me?
Yes my Friend,my God,my Savior ,I do,I do,I do
You know all things from the beginning to the end,
Lord you know me through and through

Yours Staff

Great points! There was a book written by David Wilkerson a few years ago entitled HAVE YOU FELT LIKE GIVING UP LATELY? It is really meant for those who have stumbled or fallen...or felt like they were close to stumbling.

Satan will use anything to try and distract or entice believers away from walking with God. A distracted person can do no harm to Satan's wiles.

Satan doesn't care if a person is distracted, complacent or stumbling (although I suspect that he prefers to see believers fall). The point is that a person who has taken his eyes off of the Lord cannot properly win souls effectively for Christ.

This reminds me of Jesus speaking to Peter:

"And the Lord said, 'Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.'" - Luke 22:31-32

Thank you so much staff for your encouraging word and poem. I just came home from a teaching on the Psalms 23 how he restores my soul. It was so good and lines up with what you are saying. Isn't God so good and amazing He loves us and walks beside us. Thank you so so much Soulwon

Hi Soulwon,
God is amazing and you know John The Baptist didnt recognise Jesus until the Holy Spirit pointed him out and I guess thats the same with us,we dont see him walking with us until the Holy Spirit points it out.I must look up Psalm 23 to see is their something in it for me,Glad the Poem spoke to you,
Its interesting that before I looked it up I presumed that the cock crowed at daylight but that is not mentioned and the cock probably called out before it normally would and also if the bird in question is in fact a male hen it represnts boasting. The things you learn!Staff
