Prayer and the Word

Does one's prayer life increase in power in proportion to the amount of tine one spends in the word?

Or in prayer.

I think one's prayer life increases in power and proportion not so much with study of the Word, per se, as it does with an increased awareness of one's own inability during times of severe testing, trials and seasons of suffering. It may be that during these hard times we are unable to mine any gold from the Word at all, and must therefore thrive off what we have already spiritually assimilated from former seasons of study - like squirrels feasting off their winter acorn reserve. We then pray simple, unending, desperate, soundless and ejaculatory prayers of faith, banking upon the already-hidden manna of God's Word within our spirits.
