Acts 12:5
So Peter was kept in prison, but prayer for him was being made fervently by the church of God.
........................................................................
When we look st the above verse that describes the imprisonment of Peter. We also see the early Acts church did what they always did. They prayed. There was no government or ACLJ to cry out for Peters release. The early church did what they knew they could only do. They prayed for God to intervene. And God did answer the prayers of the Acts 12 sants by sending an angel to release Peter
I remember a few years sgo Youcef Knardakhani, an Iranian pastor was imprisoned and world wide attention was focussed on his case. Thousands of saints around the world were praying for him and he was, by God's grace released from prison. As I recall it was the saints prayers that caused God to act and not ministries or the institutions of men.
Such are the disheartening reports I read of Saeed Abidini. Saeed is an Iranian American Christian who was arrested over a year ago in Iran. He went over with the approval of the Iranian government to build an orphanage for orphans. While there he was arrested. The President of the U S or the Dept. of State have said very little about the unjust imprisonment about Saeed. But then for that matter the US government has said very little about the persecution of Christians in other nations. But the President or State Dept. will be quick to condemn the persecution of Moslems or gays and lesbians in other nations.
Negma Abidini, Saeed's wife, has been tirelessly pleading with the U S government to intervene on Saeed's behalf. Saeed is after all an American citizen. Yet she has been rebuffed by President Obama and Secretary of Stare John Kerry. Interestingly Negna finds a favorable ear in Donald Trump. Yet Trump for all his billions cannot get Saeed released.
My heart breaks for this sister. And it is dispicable that our government refuses to speak out for one of its own. An opportunity was lost when the U S refused to raise the issue of Abidini and other Americans imprisoned in Iran. This being when the US concluded a Munich style agreement with the Iranians. Iran came out the winner. They get sanctions released, they get to keep their nuclear program, and they get to keep Saeed and other Americans imprisoned. Iran has been elevated to the status of a world power. US was made a sucker.
Governments at their best are corruptable. Governments are run by sinful men. There will be no justice coming from a government. But there is One who will bring justice. There is One who will bring justice for His elect who cry out to Him day and night. That is Jesus. Our government abandons its own. Jesus never will.
The best thing for dear Negma to do is pray. And encourage others to pray for her husband. Even crying out for his release should it be God's will. There is power in agreeing prayer. This dear sister will be disapointed in nen's actions. Men will fail. Prevailing prayer will not fail with God.
Where men fail. Prayer will prevail.
