Almost five million Australians says they have no religious beliefs

WE love Christmas and spend billions celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ, but according to a report, Australians are losing their religion.

In the past 100 years, the number of Australians reporting on the national census that they have "no religion" has jumped from one in 250 in 1911 to more than one in five in 2011.

In addition, many of those who nominate a religious affiliation do not actively participate in religious activities.

I think we'll see a reversal of this. It is my conviction that the secularization of a society doesn't produce long-term agnostics and atheists, but that it serves to create a vaccum which will eventually replace the agnostic/atheistic beliefs with another religion or spirituality. Man by "nature" is religious, and given time, something else will fill that void. This creates a great opportunity for the gospel. But it also creates an opportunity for seven devils worse than the prior devil.
