I keep going back to Jeremiah's haunting words in chapter 5, verses 30, 31.
Jeremiah 5:30-31 NKJV
[30] … An astonishing and horrible thing Has been committed in the land: [31] The prophets prophesy falsely, And the priests rule by their own power; And My people love to have it so. But what will you do in the end? …
"My people love it so!"
I am in an email conversation with a liberal friend, who believes government is the answer, should take care of everyone, would never abuse the right of the people to have plenty of food and a safe environment. He seems so willing to just hand over everything and let the governing officials do as they think best.
"If people are hungry we should feed them!" he insists.
He thinks I am cold and heartless when I suggest that freedom is better than safety, and when I agree with Paul that those who will not work should not eat.
Perhaps it is inevitable that western nations will slumber themselves back into the slavery of a socialist social order. Maybe when the benevolent boot of government is crushing their neck, plundering their wealth, and rationing life's necessities will the dawning of what they have lost spur them to a response.
Nothing seems to be working that direction right now??
The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only message of hope in the world today. The Left has gone totally looney, and the Right can't articulate a clear idea to save their life. The love of money has become a large monster in a small swimming pool, and it is a devourer of souls.
What a cry there is right now for redemption, for sanity, for peace on the inside! The cults are flourishing, and the road rage phenomenon is in every public place.
Hide us in the shadows of your wings O God, fill us with the strength that comes with your Spirit, let our mouths breathe your words, protect us from sin and those who serve in the temples of violence!
