This is from the weather channel this morning on the heels of Russia sending their army into Ukraine, I found it interesting. In it they asked why Canada was training in Arctic conditions and in one word they said, "Russia, - over land disputes with Russia." Canada is preparing to defend their land (the North Pole) against Russia.
A quote from it: "In 2007, Russia stunned the world when it "claimed" the North Pole as its own, sending a submarine expedition with two members of the Russian parliament on board to plant its flag on the sea floor directly beneath the pole, some two miles under the ice."
