HezWellng - I don't wish to speak for Lysa. However, with all due respect brother I think you did exactly what she asked to not be done on her thread. You seemed to take her post about a very specific event of news and used it as your springboard to go on an attack of several non related issues.
I again cannot speak for the moderators but it would seem that your post is also much like the ones they have locked recently. Your post seems filled with a lot of angry personal attacks.
My wife and I have Ukrainian friends that are born again believers and pastors of local churches living close to the battle lines of Crimea right now. They do not agree with your assessment of what is happening there at all. However, that was not the point of Lysa's thread. So ... in order to not further hijack her post ... back to Ulf declaring his allegiance to the Catholic Church.
I am a pretty shocked by it. When I was a student at Rhema Ulf would come and speak occasionally. He was a man full of passion and fire to reach his nation with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Not a compromised Gospel at all ... the real deal. A fellow student that I rented a house with while I was a student there was from the church Ulf pastored. This turn to Catholicism is so totally counter to what Ulf was preaching then. Of course that was some 25 years ago ... so I am sure people can change a great deal over that amount of time. I haven't actually heard Ulf speak in probably 20 years ... so the Ulf of today may be very different that the one I was familiar with.
It is saddening. That church did a great amount of good for many years. It is certainly possible that God has a few true lights scattered within the darkness of the Catholic Church. I have known a few that stayed for the sole purpose of being a missionary. They viewed it as a pagan foreign land but stayed within to speak the truth. That led to many confrontations I am sure.
I currently minister in a community that statistically claims to be about 70% practicing Catholic. They can do virtually ANYTHING and feel it is fine with God as long as they go take the Eucharist and go to a confessional a time or two a year.
If asked why they should be allowed into God's eternal heaven the answer I normally get from a Catholic is "I was baptized, took the Eucharist/Communion and went to a confessional with a priest saying whatever prayers he prescribed for me". That is what their faith is in ... not grace by faith.... not the cross ... not the blood of Christ ... not repentance from sin or believing the Gospel. It is merited salvation in their minds that they are owed based on their works.
I do know several people in the church Ulf pastored. I do not believe Ulf's turning to Catholicism will affect the people there much. Most of them are to well grounded in scripture to fall for that. However, since Ulf has been so well known in that part of the world I pray that his decision does not affect others in a way that might shake their heart.
